A knock on the door had Lily quickly zipping up and buttoning her jeans. She ran her fingers through her knotted hair in an attempt to look somewhat decent, but quickly realized it was a lost cause. She needed about a gallon of conditioner and a heavy-duty hairbrush before those knots would come out.
“Come in,” she called out.
The door opened slowly as if the person behind it was hesitant to enter the room. When it finally revealed who had knocked, Lily wasn’t sure how to feel. Amanda and Eli were standing in the doorway with Bella between them.
“Lily!” Bella screamed when she saw her, breaking free from her parents and jumping into Lily’s arms.
