NICARRA'S POINT OF VIEW
'I can't believe we are going to be sleeping in different dorms.' said Nyssa as we walked up the stairs to her room led by our guide with Nyssa's familiar - an eagle flying around us.
'Don't worry, Nyssa, it'll be okay.' I replied, holding her shoulder, and she stopped to look at me with her beautiful sea blue eyes smiling.
'I wish I had your confidence, Nicarra.'
'And I wish I had your height.'
She laughed as we both continued up the stairwell playing our game of 'I wish'.
'Well, here we are,' said the guide in a cheery voice as she opened the door.
The room was beautiful with white wash walls and two huge beds, with matching white sheets and pillows stationed to the right. In front of us are glass doors, which lead to a balcony outside. 'Wow,' said Nyssa.'
'This floor is reserved for the highest female test scorers, and we are pleased that this year, most of the highest scorers are decendants of the highest test scorers from previous years. You will be proud to know your mother stayed in this room, Miss Nyssa, as did the mother of your roommate.
'You are back! Cool! said a girl about our age, walking out of a door to left. She is tall, like Nyssa with dark brown hair, grey eyes, and pouty lips.
'Nice to see you are settling well, princess Lisa. I hope everything is too your liking.' said our guide.
'It's ok, hi I'm Lisa.' said the girl with an extended hand.
We exchanged pleasantries, and then she looked at me and said, 'Wow, you are really beautiful. Are your eyes real?' moving closer to me.
'Princess, please respect their personal space. Remember that not all are comfortable with being in close contact.'
'It's OK, I don't mind.' I replied before looking back at Lisa and answering her question.
'So which one of you is my roomie?'
Nyssa raisely her hand shyly as her eagle flew into the room from the open balcony door and perched on the beam close to the bed on the right.
'You are a witch?'asked Lisa, looking at the bird.
'I thought you said my roommate is a siren princess?' asked Lisa, looking at the guide.
'I am a siren and a witch.' Nyssa whispered.
'You are a hybrid?' asked Lisa
'We are both hybrids,' I replied, going into defensive mode in case this went south. Wouldn't be the first time.
'Cool!', she said, 'My grandmother is a hybrid. She is a witch and a Lycan and can do all sorts of cool stuff. I envy you guys, you get the best of both worlds, I wish I was a hybrid.'
Nyssa and I looked at ourselves smiling, and I said to her, 'I wish I had your beautiful grey eyes'
'And I wish I had your vivaciousness,' said Nyssa.
'Really? Hey, would you both like to see the best part of the room?'
'Yes, please,' Nyssa responded
Lisa opened a door and we stepped into a huge walk-in-closet with lots of racks and cabinets, but what was most interesting was a mural which stretched from the walls to the ceiling, created with thousands of pictures and paintings of two pairs of women from different times and in different postures.
'I found it when I wanted to hang my clothes. Check this out, "she said, switching off the light. Slowly, letters began to glow on the roof of the room until they shined brightly. Written in cursive style was the phrase-Welcome. This room is a testament created by women who are a part of history, which will outlive those to come.
'The first students to take this room' said the guide, pointing to a painting of two women both standing in a river wearing ancient clothes.
'White witch Ruth and and Samara, who was a djinn, a handful they both were. They wanted to be remembered so they took locks of their hairs and magically nailed it into walls of this room as a protective shield to those who would use the room after them, leaving instructions on how to renew the spell. However, your grandmother, Art master Ellis, she expanded the spell to protect the whole building.'
'Grandma Ellis,' we both said, astonished.
'The same' replied the guide walking towards another part of the room
'And to honour both women who showed the way for peaceful co existence through co-operation between races, she created a spell that those who come after may remember those who were here before. This is the result' said the guide pointing to a picture of grandma Ellis in her youth in a short bob hair-cut wearing a short sleeved shirt with shorts, riding on the back of a tall, dark haired woman with fierce green eyes and an athletic build.'
'Who's that?' I asked curiously
'Luna Christine, my grand mother,' said Lisa, looking at the picture.
Nyssa and I looked at her, surprised.
'How come grandma Ellis never mentioned her?'
'She was your grand mothers best friend and Luna queen of the Lycans. She lived a short life and died bearing her son, who is now the current Alpha King. Elder Ellis at the time was young and so broken that she could barely function. She never forgave the Lycan king and blamed him for her friends death. It greatly strained relations between witches and lycans until these two met each other.' said the guide, leading us all to another part of the room
'Look, Nicarra, it's mum,' said Nyssa excitedly, running towards a picture.
'I see you've found her,' said the guide smiling, 'it took your mother weeks to find her mother.'
'Mum?' said Lisa
I ran over and saw the picture of princess
Nadia hugged by a beautiful woman with black raven hair and tattoos all over her arms with grey eyes carrying a baby.'
'Our mothers were room mates?' asked Lisa.
'Indeed' said our guide. Together, they were able to foster new relations between the lycans and the white witches. You both have big shoes to fill young ladies, I dare say.'
"Incredible," said Nicarra, mesmerized by the sight.
' Now I must leave you both to settle in. Miss Nicarra, I have informed your guide of your arrival and she is waiting for you at the entrance of your dormitory. I will wait for you outside to lead you out.'
'Thank you. I'm sorry, I never got your name.' I responded.
It's Daria miss, dinner is served in the dining hall at seven. I will see you all there.' she replied, bowing.
'Please let me know when my brother arrives, Daria.' said Lisa, sitting on her bed. Daria nods, shutting the door.
'Hey, you don't have to leave. This bed is big enough for an army.' said Nyssa.
'You know I have to, and look on the bright side, movie nights and cookie nights will be more fun'
'What's a cookie night?' Asked Lisa.
'Trust me, it's better experienced than explained,' I said.
'I'll see you at seven,' I said, hugging Nyssa.
'Stay out of trouble,' Nyssa responded, hugging me back.
'Me trouble? I don't know what you're talking about.'
'That's what I'm afraid of,' Nyssa said, finally releasing me.
I walked out and closed the door following Daria to the stairwell leading out of the building. The entire building is filled with activities as students and caretakers walk up and down the staircase.
