NICARRAS POINT OF VIEW.
'Look girls, its the charity case all cleaned up' said a voice behind me, I turned around and saw Margot walk towards me with a few other teenage white witches, holding her familiar- a cat. Just great.
'I guess its to be expected when you are a sirens w***e' responded one of the witches beside that I don't recognise, and they all start giggling.
'Hi Maggot, hello dim wits, fancy meeting you all here. Wow nice nose, Maggot, I heard you got it after smashing the real one on your sixth attempt at the school entry trials.' I responded.
She subconsciously covered her nose with her palm.
'You think you are better than us, just because princess Nadia showed you pity? You are nothing but a worthless killer who tried to kill elder Ellis. You might fool everyone else with your innocence, but you don't fool us. We know who you really are,' said a girl I remember is called Cassie- Margot's sister. At this point, a crowd had begun to gather watching our exchange, and though her words stung and hurt deeply, I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of my tears. Two can play this game.
'Is that what you tell yourself, Cassie, to help you sleep at night every time you sleep with Martin? I believe that is your mate Patricia,' I responded, looking at the only raven haired girl in the group.
'What?!' said Patricia, looking at Cassie.
'She's lying! I didn't,' said Cassie, looking back at her.
'You mean like when you lied that you needed his help to pass the tests and the coven searched for you both for three days?'
'SHUT UP! WE WERE TRAINING!' Cassie screamed, curling her fists.
'Really? Is that what you call three days of orgy in siren territory? Do you really think that he would leave his true mate for you? He's always having you for lunch but is clearly saving her for dessert. If you want to clear your doubts, why not ask him to mark you?'
'I DON'T NEED TO WEAR HIS MARK TO PROVE THAT HE LOVES ME!'
Everyone, including Margot, gasped, and I smiled at Cassie with my hands held up up, knowing I had successfully flipped the switch. Patricia walked over to Cassie and slapped her really hard in the face before storming away from the group, taking a few girls with her.
Margot looked at me with pure hatred, saying,'this isn't over' before walking away, leaving her sobbing, bleeding sister on the floor.
I left the building and deliberately took a dirt path, trying to avoid more confrontation. However, I didn't understand the map in my hands, and soon, I was lost and alone in a very beautiful garden. I pulled my bags to a bench, trying to find my bearing.
'Hello lass, seems like you lost your way, just hold on a minute, I'll be right there?', said a voice which an Irish accent.
I turned around but was surprised to see no one.
'Hey, over here', said the voice in again.
I looked to my right and saw a hand waving above the garden of flowers, I waited and watched until a gnome appeared and began to approach me. He has brown hair and eyes with a full beard and is dressed in blue shirt and black trousers, which he covered with an apron smeared with soil and dirt. He wore a friendly smile as he stopped and looked up at me, cleaning his dirt stained hands with the apron.
'Hello sir,' I said, smiling back.
'No sirs here, lass, the names Gariel, Gariel the gardener; at your service me lady ' he responded in his thick Irish accent tiping his imaginary hat.
I giggle at his antics before responding, 'It's nice to meet you Gariel, my name is Nicarra.'
'Favour to you, Nicarra. A beautiful name for a beautiful lass, I say, that I do.'
'And kindness to you forever Gariel'
'Ah, I see you know our greeting, very few among the young folk practice it these days.'
'I learned from my grandmothers closest friend, she always spoke of her village and would tell me stories all the time.'
'And who be this person of whom you speak, perhaps I may know her?'
'Her name is Granny Nightingale.'
'Old lady nightingale! with her sharp tongue, glass walking stick, and the voice that rivals the angels.'
'You know her?'
'Know her! She be me great-great aunt on me mother side. Pride of the village, that she is. But hold on, her closest friend that I know of be art master Ellis. You be her granddaughter?'
I looked down and nodded as a lump formed in my throat, making speech difficult.
'Come now, lass, don't give old Gariel that face.' he said, pulling me to sit on one of the benches along the walkway.
'Tell you what, I promise If you cheer up, I'll share with you a secret over me lunch, that I will.' he continued handing me an apple
I smiled at his gesture and took the apple from him, thanking him.
'There now all better, a face so beautiful should always wear a smile, that it should. Your gran is strong, she be one of the greatest of the artmasters, even surpasses grand master Lucius who be centuries older, she will recover. That she will '
Large shadows passed over us from above, and we both looked up to find dragons of various colours flying above us.
'Ah !look, the dragons are arriving! I hear the crown prince will be in attendance. The SOME hasn't had a crown prince from the dragon clan attend in over seven centuries. it must be why there are so many. ' said Gariel.
We watched as several dragons passed, and many people came out from several buildings to watch the spectacle as well.
'What a sight!' said Gariel
It was indeed abreathtakingg sight to behold but equally fearsome. The dragons were large, and it was difficult to understand how they flew so gracefully despite their bulk in weight.
'That must be him, prince Warre. Hee be much bigger than I imagined. That he be' said Gariel as he pointed to a very large, black dragon, the size of a city. As I saw the dragon flapping majestically through the air, my heart constricted within my chest, and I felt a strange tingling all over my body.
'Warren,' I whispered, looking at the dragon flap his large wings gracefully across the sky.
'So how may I help you, Nicarra?'
'I need to get to the dormitory of the sky?'
'Ah, that's easy. Just go straight down this path and turn left, walk forward, and there it stands. If you can just hold on a bit, I'll walk you there. That, I will'
'Would you Gariel? Thank you,' I replied.
After a few minutes, we both walked and laughed over many things until he led me to a beautiful building where a fairy stood waiting for me.
'We are here, lass,' Gariel said, looking up at me.
'Thank you, Gariel.'
No need for gratitud, lass. I already see you like me little niece. Come find me if you need anything, you hear.'
'I surely will, Gariel.' I replied, slowly walking into the building.. After finding my room and settling in, Nyssa and I texted for a few minutes. She informed me she was exploring the school grounds with Lisa and asked that I join them. I declined and told her we would meet up later in the main hall. I laid down to rest but was woken up some time later by my ringing phone.
'Hello,' I said, picking it up.
I heard Lisa shouting at someone in the background, but everything else faded, and my heart stopped when I heard Nyssa tearfully call my name, 'Nicarra?'
I sprang up from my bed and raced out of my room, crashing into a veiled plump small statured girl at the top of the staircase. Apologizing quickly, I picked up my fallen phone and raced to the main hall. Someone just signed their death warrant.
