Phoebe's POV " I am going to miss you," Emma said and hugged me like her life depended on it. " I'm moving to another city, not another planet. Berlise is only eight hours away. You can visit me anytime," I said and hugged her. " I still can't believe that you're leaving everything behind. This is not fair. He messed up. Why do you have to be the one. to pay for it?" she said to. " It doesn't matter. What's done is done. I'll be back when the cooling period is over, I'll see you then," I said to her. " Okay, now remember what I said, okay? My cousin will be at the airport to pick you up, I have already given him your pictures," she said to me. " You didn't have to, but I'm glad you did. At least now I have someone to talk to, I won't be as lonely," I said to her. " I told him to take care of you, call me if you need anything, okay?" she said. " I'll be fine... I promise you," I said to her. " Last call for flight 196 to Berlise..." A voice echoed through the airport's speakers. " I better go before someone recognizes me," I said and put on my extra large sunglasses and mask. It wasn't easy dodging all the media at the hotel. Ashton blames me for the leak, I know I didn't do it, and even without proof, I know it was Melody. From the day she came back, Ashton has been taking her side in everything, even when she was clearly at fault, Ashton always found a way to somehow make it my fault, ignoring all facts, even if they were staring him in the face. " Bye bestie... call me when you land..." Emma said. " I'll see you soon..." I said and wheeled my suitcase to board the plane. I wish I could say that this trip wasn't scary for me, but it was. Up until this moment, I have never been alone. I don't know my parents, I was raised by my aunt. According to her, my parents went missing a business trip when I was six. I have no memory of them. The only parent I know is my aunt. We weren't struggling, but we weren't exactly rolling in cash. We just lived a normal life. She gave me a great childhood. She was always there for me. Then I met Ashton, and he became my home. Even when my aunt told me not to get involved with him, I ignored her warnings and married him anywhere. She always said that he would break my heart, that he was not the person I was meant to be with. But I was young and foolish. I was in love with Ashton, and for me, there could have been no one else but him. That man was my everything. Even though I had signed the papers, a part of me was hurting, and I felt like I had lost someone important to me. Then I met him... The perfect stranger. Last night didn't exactly begin on a good note, but it sure ended with a big bang. It was the first time I found myself in bed with another man besides Ashton. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would be with someone else, let alone sleep with a man I had just met. I partly blame the alcohol, I haven't had that much to drink in a long time, which is why I can't remember everything about last night. All I can remember is the amazing s*x I had with that guy. I don't even know how to explain this. It was like he was in my mind. He knew where to touch me, how to touch me, and he made me feel wanted, cherished, and worshipped. The chemistry between us was unparalleled and entwined Even now, just thinking about him sent shivers through my body, but in a good way, not only that, but I feel lighter, like a huge weight had been lifted off my fingers and not just that, but I am actually looking forward to a new life, one without Ashton Turner in it. A few hours passed by, and I fell asleep while watching a movie on the plane. When I woke up, the plane was about to touch down. At that moment, I felt like I was missing something, and then I remembered, my bracelet was gone. That bracelet was the only thing I had left as a reminder of my parents. My aunt told me that my parents gave me that bracelet the last time they saw me. It holds a lot of sentimental value to me. I looked around and I couldn't find it anywhere. I texted Emma and told her to ask the hotel if anyone had seen it. I don't think that anyone would take it. It's old, plus it doesn't look like it costs much, at most, I hope whoever finds it would turn it to the hotels front desk. I went off the plane and just as Emma said, her cousin was waiting for me at the airport, he had a piece of paper with my name written on it, not that he needed it, because he came to me as soon as he spotted me. I guess the pictures must have helped. " Phoebe?" He asked. " Josh?" I said. " Yes, Welcome to Berlise... let me take that," he said and took my suitcase. " I hope Emma didn't trouble you too much... " I said to him. " Not at all, any friend of Emma's, is also my friend, besides, you're new here, it helps to have someone who knows the place," he said and wheeled the suitcase out of the airport. " So, have you been here your whole life?" I asked him. " No, I actually moved here six years ago, but now it feels like I was born to live here, hopefully, you'll also love it here like I do," he said to me. " Yeah, I might not have no choice," I said to him. We walked out of the airport, and immediately, I could feel that I was in a different place. The atmosphere felt different, even the air felt cleaner. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. " You feel the clean air, don't you?" he said to me. " Yes, actually... I do," I said to him with a smile. " See, you're already falling for Berlise," he said and led me to the car. He opened the car and I climbed. " So, where to first?" he asked me. " I think a hotel first, hopefully one that isn't too expensive," I said to him. " No way I am letting you stay in a hotel, if you need a place to stay, you can stay with me," he said to me. " Oh no, that won't be necessary, I have already taken too much of your time, a hotel will be fine, anyway, I am moving to my place tomorrow," I said to him. " Emma said that you're like a sister to her, that makes you family and I can't let family stay in a hotel, I have a big house, you won't even know that I am around, and you're welcome to stay as long as you want, there's no rush," he said to me. " Is everyone in Berlise this nice?" I said to him. " Definitely not everyone... There's good and bad everywhere... Berlise is no exception," he said to me. " Should I be worried?" I asked him. " No, just keep your head down and don't bring any unnecessary attention to yourself. You will be fine," he said casually. " I understand..." I said to him. " I mean it, Phoebe, Berlise is not like your city. There are people you need to stay away from," he said to me. " People like who?" I asked. " There's an underground world leader here, he basically runs this city and anyone who crosses him ends up dead, not that you will ever run into him, but his crew is everywhere, so you need to be warry of the people you talk to here okay?" he said to me. Honestly, I don't know what having a big brother feels like, but I am sure that it feels something like this. To have someone who's looking out of you is a blessing, I'm glad I have Emma as my friend. She literally gave me a big brother, and I couldn't be happier. " Okay," I said to him. A few minutes later, we drove into the estate. It was big and pretty impressive. It was almost bigger than the house I lived in. " Is this your house?" I said as I climbed out of the house. " Yes, do you like it?" he asked. " When you said you had a big house, I didn't think that you meant a mansion... It is huge, and you live all alone?" I asked him. " Yes, but we have servants, and my family comes to visit from time to time," he said. " So, don't you have a wife? Or girlfriend?" I asked him. " I have a fiance, but she's away on business. You'll meet her in a couple of weeks," he said with a huge smile on his face. I love how his face lit up when he spoke of his significant other. There was a glow in him that told me that he really loves her. Ashton used to have that same glow, but that was a long time ago. Now, when he probably doesn't even think of me anymore, how could he? He is about to marry another woman and have a baby with her. " Phoebe... are you okay?" Josh asked me with a concerned look on his face. " I'm fine, just got lost in my own thoughts for a moment... so your fiance, won't she mind that I am staying here? Maybe you should talk to her first," I said to him. I should know, I am speaking from experience. Having another woman in her fiance's home might be a problem. After all, my problems began when Ashton moved Melody into our house. " Don't worry, okay? She will be fine. She knows how much I value family, and you are family," he said to me. " Josh, thank you. You didn't have to do any of this... Thanks." I said to him. " Don't mention it," he said and wheeled my suitcase into the house. The house staff was already waiting for us inside. He introduced me to the staff and told them I was his little sister. He also told them to treat me well and help me get settled. I had a long flight and I was tired, I took a bath and relaxed on the bed while I went through my phone. I texted Emma and told her that I had settled in. There were no messages from Ashton. I don't know, but a part of me was a little disappointed. I have been with this man for such a long time. How could he just easily replace me like that? My phone vibrated in my hand. It was an unknown number sending me a text. I opened the message, and it was a photo of Melody in bed with Ashton. Surprisingly, it didn't even upset me. I switched off my phone, took out the sim card, and threw it in the trash can. " Ashton... I'm truly done with you," I whispered.
