Begging In Silence

Chapter Nine.

Ares's P.O.V

"You get his right hand, leave him to me." Thane mind links me and I charge for Aidan, Mike's right hand. Clawing and biting at each other I bite into one of his front paws and he howls. He scratches the side of my face and I hiss but manage to break his paw. Jumping on me we tumble, biting at each other and I finally get a hold of his neck, he winces trying to break free but I just bite into his flesh deeper.

"Stay down!" I command and he eventually does. Out of nowhere I feel as if someone is pushing a knife deep into my body, that's Thane!. I see him and Mike going at it, why can't he get a good bite in already?! "Thanatos!"

"I've got it handled!" Right when he says that I see him with his canines deep in Mike's neck.

"Alpha!" Olivia yells through mind link, catching our attention. She's pleading to him, asking him to stop but I know my brother and if Mike doesn't yield to him he'll definitely make him-

SNAP!

Thane howls, alerting everyone, especially his pack, that Mike is dead and they immediately stand down then turn around and head back to their pack house. Taking Mike's head into his snout Thane makes his way to the pack house, with us behind him and drops it within our grounds and everyone roars at our victory. Shifting back I head into the house and take a shower, I have to wash this blood off.

"Alpha!" Rose calls out to me and runs to me when I stop to look at her. "Alpha please let me attend to your wounds." She asks bowing to me and I smirk.

"It's alright Rose, they'll heal in an number of hours."

"Please." She whispers, looking sad. "You and Alpha Thane just fought to protect us, it's the least I can do." A war that I started. I nod and she smiles. She leads me to our hospital and sits me down on the bed. "I'll be right back." She says leaving then comes back with her hands full.

"Let me give you a hand with that." I say quickly getting up and helping her.

"Thank you Alpha." Disinfecting my wound, I feel it burn then she applies something that cools it down. When she chuckles I look at her.

"What's so funny?"

"When you feel pain you scrunch up your nose, just a little bit." I smirk then put my finger on my lips, making a shushing sound.

"Don't tell anyone." She nods.

"It'll be our little secr-" Her eyes widen and she drops whatever she's holding in her hands.

"Rose? Rose what's wrong?" Falling I hold her in my arms and she gasps for air then Amber comes into view with her hand in Roses direction. "What are you doing?!"

"How dare she touch you! You are mine."

"Release her right now Amber." I command and I see defiance in her eyes.

"Ares she-" Getting up I forcefully wrap my hand around her neck and pull her to me, lifting her.

"Release her." I say through gritted teeth and she does. Hearing Rose coughing I let Amber go and she falls to the ground. "It's okay, just breathe." Her teary eyes look at me and she nods. Looking at Amber she looks down.

"Ares I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me." When Rose and I get up I push her behind me. "Ares." She whispers with tears in her eyes.

"Leave Amber." When she opens her mouth to speak I silence her. "I will not repeat myself." She turns in a quick pace and runs off. I turn to Rose. "Rose I-"

"It's okay, I'm okay and thank you for protecting me." Packing everything up she turns to me. "Okay, I'm all done and you're good to go."

"Thank you." Heading back to the house I can't help but think about what just happened.

Thane's P.O.V

After the fight I head into the house and wash up, getting out of the shower I'm greeted by my father's angry face.

"Get dressed." He says throwing clothes at me. "Meet me at the discussion room." After getting dressed I head over there and find him and uncle Jake there. "Sit down Thanatos."

"I'll stand, uncle Jake, what's going on?" He sighs.

"The boy you killed."

"What about him?"

"He's Dominique Lopez's grandson." I look at him as if saying continue. "After what happened between Kyle and your parents your uncle, Titan, banned Dominique and the rest of his family from his pack but they found refuge in another pack. The Shadow Rock pack." Ah f**k.

"Adrian's pack?" He nods. After what happened with our parents, when we were born a piece treaty was created between a certain number of packs, an agreement was made that there would be no blood shed, no wars or overthrowing of alphas amongst these packs. To seal the treaty the blood of the head alpha of these packs was requested, because our father already had two heirs who were the future Alphas, Ares and I gave our blood and sealed the treaty. One of those packs is the Shadow Rock pack. Adrian, just like us, is next in line to be Alpha, he also happens to be an old friend and now I find out that Mike was under his pack, which means that by killing him I’ve broken the peace treaty.

“Olivia knew this, why didn’t she tell you? She is supposed to be your beta.” That’s why she tried to stop me.

“Where’s your brother?” My eyes shoot for my father.

“Ares doesn’t need to know about this.”

“How can he not be informed? He’s the other half of this pack, you think the elders won’t summon him?”

“Yes because I killed Mike, not him.”

“Thane-”

“We don’t tell Ares, if the elders themselves summon him then there’s nothing I can do but for now no.” Just then Ares walks in. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing I’m just really beat, what are you guys talking about?” I can tell something is wrong.

“Nothing really just going over what happened today.”

“Is everything okay?” Is that concern hidden in his tone?

“Everything is fine, right dad?” I turn to his and he sighs.

“Yes.” He gets up to leave. “I can’t tell you what to do Thane, you’re old enough now to run things how you or your brother see fit but what I can tell you is that hiding things from each other or shielding the other only does more damage. Be careful.” He says through mind link.

“I know dad but just trust me.” Him and uncle Jake leave, I release a sigh. I was trying to clean up Ares’s mess and now there’s this, my father might be right, the more I shield him the worser it gets. But if I don’t look out for him who will? After eating I head to the office and try to get some work done, mind linking Olivia to come to my office I hear a knock at my door shortly after. “Enter.”

“Alpha, you wanted to see me?”

“You knew about Mike?” She nods.

“I wanted to stop you but then I also knew that no one would’ve been able to stand in your way if he didn’t submit to you.” I sigh. “I’m guessing you spoke to your father.” I nod. “Have the elders summoned you yet?”

“No not yet but I’m guessing they will since I’m the one who broke the peace treaty.”

“Because of Alpha Ares.”

“Olivia.”

“Alpha Thane, me, you and the rest of the betas and omegas know what happened. I know you’re trying to have your brother’s back but do you think Ares is going to let you take the fall for him?”

“If Ares had killed Mike the elders would have seen it as revenge and if that had happened they could have stripped him of his birth right or worse.”

“What are you going to do?”

“Keep this quiet for now, do not inform Jason, Lucas and especially not Ares. I asked my father to do the same, if the elders only summon me then we can wrap this up quickly but if they want us both then I’ll have no choice.” I can see she’s not happy about this but no one has much of a choice at this point.

“Yes Alpha.” She bows then leaves. Finishing up work I head back to the house and find my mom cooking.

“Mom you know you don’t have to come here almost everyday to make us breakfast or dinner right? I can hire a cook and a cleaner and-”

“No, I want to do it. When your father and I left this house to you guys we didn’t consider how hard it would be to let go after raising you in the other house.” I chuckle.

“Dad’s fine.” I tease and she laughs.

“Alright! Alright! I’m the one who can’t let go.” Pulling her into my arms I hug her and kiss her forehead. “Thane.” Her tone sounds serious. I turn to her.

“You’re more like your father than you think, just be careful.” I nod heading upstairs. It’s pretty late but I’m pretty sure I can squeeze in some school work before bed. Finishing up an assignment I go to sleep. Groaning when my alarm goes off I head to the shower, getting out I get dressed, pack up and head downstairs.

“Hey.”

“Hey.”

“Is that how you guys greet each other now?” Mom chuckles. “I thought I taught you to say good morning.” I smirk.

“Morning mom.” She smiles and dishes up for me. “How are you feeling?” He shrugs.

“Better, no scars no pain, you?”

“I can still feel the bite but the marks are gone so … fine?” Looking at my watch I get up. “Let’s go.” Grabbing the car keys I get into my car, Ares does the same and we head to school. Parking, we head inside and when the doors open everyone’s eyes are on us. I guess word got out about the fight. Ares stays behind to talk to Rose and I head to class, meeting Olivia, Jason and Noah.

“There he is!” Noah yells, roughly wrapping his arm around me he pulls me to him. “How are you feeling killer.” He chuckles and we all smirk at each other.

“Get off of me Noah.” I say shoving him and he chuckles. Ares walks in and comes to sit with us. Just then Mike’s goons come into our class and Olivia notifies me.

“Alpha.” She warns. Approaching us, Ares and I’s betas and omegas stand in front of us. As time passes by we start grabbing everyone’s attention, even the teachers. “What do you want?” Olivia spits out and Aidan, who is now in charge since Mike is gone comes forward.

“Alpha Thane, Alpha Ares.” He says bowing and the rest of his pack follows. I don’t like his pack but he’s smart and that I can respect. Looking around I see everyone looking up at us and I turn to Ares. This is what power looks like I think, smirking.
