Xavinat was dead and so was Evangeline but I did not feel relieved. I was horrified at how the demon had betrayed Evangeline in the eleventh hour though Evangeline had attempted to do the same to me. I looked at the headless corpse, human-looking except for its hooves. The neck of it faced Evangeline, her bright red hair fanned all around her, stained with her own blood. Fox was still clutching her to him. He was panting after all the effort of summoning another portal to hell in the same day and using it to behead a demon. He glared at the demon’s children, Silas and Brynn.
