“What?”
Please don’t make me say it again, I begged silently. “I have always been in love with you Jimmy,” I said quietly. “I never said anything because you always seemed to have girls around you and I figured that you didn’t like me like that.” I offered a crooked grin. “I didn’t know that you and Benny had something until I came across you that day.”
Jimmy frowned.
“I’d come over to see if you wanted to practice one day and your mom said you were in your room. I went upstairs and I pushed the door open and saw you and Benny kissing. None of my stepfather’s beatings hurt like that did.”
“Robbie-”
“I left it alone. I never said anything because I knew that you loved him. And I died inside just like you did when I found out he’d died.”
“You didn’t say anything at the funeral,” Jimmy
