Chapman signed the contract without any hesitation, much to the delight of Tom, who straight away got up to leave. Eve did the same.
Lily also prepared to go, and asked, “Tom, are we leaving now?”
Touching her hair softly, Tom said, “Sweetie, you stay here to accompany Mr Miller. You can drink together a while. After I drop Eve home, I will come back to pick you up.”
“But…” Lily was uneasy at the idea of staying with this stranger. She wanted to ask Tom to take her too but Chapman intervened. He came over to where Lily was standing and put his hands around her waist.
“Come on, Lily. Let’s drink.”
Lily felt threatened by his behaviour. She tried to wriggle free from his lustful hands. Though Tom saw what Chapman was doing, he said nothing and left with Eve.
