I held Iona close to me, not wanting to let her go in case I found out that all of this was a dream. I could not believe that my suspicion was correct and she was in fact my true mate. Not only that, but she didn't hate me for my reaction to finding out Pearl had betrayed her. In all honesty, I don't imagine Sarah and Alpha Drake would have been able to let her live anyway. She had proved that she couldn't be trusted in the pack, and banishing her would not have negated her ability to stab someone else in the back. If we handed her over to the council they would have tortured her for information and then either imprisoned her to slowly age and die, or just killed her on the spot.
The fact that she had put the fact that it was my hands that took her life though was an immense weigh
