There was no window, so I had no way to tell the time. My only source of light, the torch, had burnt out a while ago. In the never-ending black, every sound was magnified. The pattering of, hopefully, a rat left me screaming into the void, unable to pinpoint where it was or where it was going. How was this not t*****e? My only relief was when my heavy lids finally closed, unable to fight sleep any longer. I hadn’t slept since the night before. When I woke, it was with a start, and then pure unaltered horror. “Good, you’re awake.” Liam stood over me, looking as stern as ever. The more immediate threat was the lit torch he held in front of him; The flames were so close that I felt the heat on my cheeks.
