Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Daniels gave a small nod.
"Everything looks fine. We’ll report back that there’s no issue."
I exhaled sharply, trying to rein in my frustration.
"There was never an issue to begin with."
Daniels gave me a sympathetic look.
"I know, man. I’m sorry. We’re just doing what we have to."
Callahan offered a small nod as well.
"We’ll handle the rest. Shouldn’t be any more trouble after this."
"Better not be," I muttered darkly, watching as they made their way to the door. I opened it for them, standing firm, my stance making it clear I wasn’t in the mood for any more pleasantries.
