The next two weeks passed in a blur. Laura had really moved out. When they got home the next day, she was gone, much to Clarissa’s relief.
Clarissa was on strict bed rest for that two weeks, she was only allowed to get up to use the toilet and a quick shower. Each time, Max had accompanied her. He had set up a small home office right inside her room, at the sitting area. The good thing about a large room was the extra space. He conducted virtual meetings there, made calls and several times a day, barked orders at John and some unfortunate soul from his office through his phone. There was no mention of Laura at all. He didn’t even leave her room much. It was as if he imposed a rule to stay in with her at all times.
