Damien was a wreck in the morning. Twice, he'd considered calling in sick because he didn't want to leave me alone.
"Damien!" I grabbed his arms as he paced the hallway. "I will be fine. Tanner and his buddies are less than five minutes away. Someone is watching from the backyard too. And I promised all of you I wouldn't go anywhere with Natalie. Calm down, and go to work."
He blew out a long breath. "Okay. Yeah. But if anything happens, call me. And I'm coming back after school."
