Alexandra felt like she was walking on cloud nine when she and Rowen walked out of her OB-GYN office. They got good news about the baby. He or she was growing perfectly, and all signs signaled that their baby would be born healthy. As a nurse, Alexandra knew that some things couldn’t be determined by blood work and ultrasounds alone but hearing her sour patch kid's heartbeat had relieved so many of her fears. Her doctor said everything looked normal. She was measuring at fourteen weeks which lined up with her conception weekend. The baby's heart rate was 170. The next time she and Rowen went to an appointment they would be able to see their baby and find out the gender during the anatomy sonogram.
