Dahlia I couldn't fight the chills that came over me, even as I raced through the muggy forest, further and further away from Hunter and whatever it was that was watching us. My eyes were filled with unshed tears, my fingers plugging my ears, my mind running wild. What was so bad that Hunter would rather send me away, further ahead, than wait for him to face the creature back there? Could he kill the creature, whatever it might be? Perhaps I have been truly lucky thus far, to not have run into anything so awful that had the predator next to me on edge.
