“Ever since I was a little girl, I would always count down every day until Christmas even directly after. I loved the sight of snow on the ground, of festive music on every station, and the food. My mother would always have me go to the store and write down what I wanted for Christmas on a sheet of paper that she told me she would then give to Santa for me. When I realized Santa wasn’t real, we continued the tradition as she always stated I was hard to buy for. That didn’t change even when I was in college as she called me on night in asking me to get her a list. But this was the first year in my entire life that I found material things to mean nothing to me. I didn’t care for the latest cell phone or the laptop with the most memory or even the new purse that I would have begged for at one
