Justin
I rolled over as my alarm went off. Stretching I noticed that Niky wasn’t in bed. It’s been two weeks since I came back and been quite the adjustment. Two days ago, I passed my police exam, received my badge again, and on Monday I go back to work. Climbing out of bed I head to the bathroom to shower. Steam still stained the mirror, and I chuckled realizing Niky wasn’t too far ahead of me. I showered and dressed quickly, and when I left the bathroom Niky was sitting on the bed lacing up her shoes.
“New rule.” I growled playfully. “You are not allowed to leave the bed without me.”
Niky laughed. “Justin!” She squealed as I pulled her to me. “Good morning handsome.”
“Morning.” I grumbled as I ran my nose over her fresh mark. She shivered, and I smirked. “How are you today?”
“Much better.” She laughed. “I feel like every morning is a good morning now that you are back.”
“Same baby.” I kissed her softly. “I love you.”
“I love you too Ohmsford.” She laughed.
“Oh, I see we are back to that nickname.” I laugh.
“You love it, and you know it.” Niky grins. “Come on it’s time for breakfast.”
I couldn’t help the huge smile on my face when I saw my three children. I still couldn't believe that I was here with them. As we ate and talked, I looked around the huge dining hall of the castle, and an idea popped in my head. When breakfast was finished, and everyone was off to work and school, I went to my office. Three hours later I was startled out of my scheming by a knock on the door. As Niky walked in, I tried to hastily shove the schematics away and instead threw them at her.
“What are these?” Niky picked them up.
“They’re erm-“ I rubbed the back of my neck. “I had an idea.”
“I see that.” She snorted. “Are these house plans?”
“Yeah.” I grin sheepishly. “I love the castle don’t get me wrong, but I thought I don’t know.”
“I love it.” Niky grinned. “I see you planned for everyone.” She points to where Macy and Ethan’s names are.”
“I thought that maybe at some point-“ I groan. “Ugh I don’t know.”
“I understand babe.” Niky touched my shoulder. “It’s like a packhouse.”
“Yeah. I guess.” I shrug.
“You should pitch it to the fam.” Niky urges. “Tonight.”
“Why tonight?”
“Because everyone will be there.” She tells me.
“Be where?”
“Oh shit.” Niky grimaces. “I spoiled it.”
“What?” I laugh.
“Dylan is throwing you a surprise party at a new club called Vixhen.” Niky tells me. “Try to be surprised.”
“I will do my best.” I laughed. “So, you think I should tell them?”
“Yes babe.” Niky draped her arm around my shoulder and kissed my cheek. “I think this is a great idea.”
We spent the rest of the day working on the floor plans, and when the time came to get ready for the party, Niky led me upstairs. “I have an outfit ready for you already.”
I dressed quickly in a simple black suit, white shirt, and burgundy tie. When I left the dressing room, I ran into Niky who was wearing a knee length burgundy dress. Her hair fell in waves around her shoulders, and the heels she wore made her calves look fantastic. I desperately wanted to cancel going to this party and take her to our room instead. A low whistle left my mouth, and my eyes darkened.
“You look amazing.” I growled as I pulled her to me.
“Thank you.” She blushed.
When we exited the castle a limo was waiting for us. The driver opened the door and I helped Niky before sliding in next to her. “Well, if Dylan wanted it to be a surprise the outfit and limo certainly don’t help.” I chuckled.
“I was supposed to lie and say it’s for a date night.” Niky grinned.
I shook my head. “Of course.”
Twenty minutes later we pulled up in front of a classy-looking building. The name “Vixhen” was lit up in bright neon red. As I looked at the building the world went out of focus and faded away. I was no longer looking at Vixhen, but a different building that read “Tempest.”
I wasn’t in control of my own body as I walked through the door. The beat of techno music reached my ears. Niky grinned at me and waved me over and I saw that Isaic and Issaih were sitting with her.
“Hey Jay.” Issaih greeted me.
“Hey.” I grinned.
“Can you believe it.” Niky beamed at me. “Our daughter found her mate.”
“Hmm.” I growled.
“Justin please play nice.” Niky scolded me.
Just then a young woman bounced up to me. “Daddy.” She kissed my cheek. “I’m glad you found time in your busy schedule to be here for me.”
“I will always find time for you Hannah.” I smile. A young man walked up to us. His eyes trained on Hannah.
“Thank you again sir.” He locked eyes with me. “Thank you for closing your club for the celebration. I know you are probably losing money.”
“Jaren.” I boomed and the kid flinched. “Don’t worry about money. It means nothing compared to my daughters happiness. Welcome to the family.”
The world spun again and I Niky was cupping my face. “Justin are you okay?”
“Yeah.” I shook my head. “I’m fine sorry.”
“What happened?”
“I don’t know.” I shrugged. “I just got dizzy I guess.”
“Well let’s not keep everyone waiting.” She gave me a dazzling smile. I grinned and followed her into the main lobby. The music was blaring, and I resisted the urge to cover my ears. I felt my eyes widen when I saw that everyone I know is here, and I mean everyone.
Isaiah bounced up to us with a drink in his hand. “Hey man long time no see. I mean-“
“Yeah, I know Isaiah.” I laugh.
I spent the next several hours dancing with Niky and catching up with friends. I was smiling so hard my face hurt, and Dylan, Ethan, and Isaiah wouldn’t stop shoving drinks down my throat. About eleven-thirty Dylan pulled me aside.
“Hey, are you ready for this?” He grinned. He held out a velvet red ring box.
I grinned back. “She has no idea?”
“None whatsoever.” Dylan laughed. “She told you this was a surprise party?”
“Just like I said she would.” I nodded. “The DJ ready?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” I grin again. “Let’s do this.”
Dylan’s eyes glassed over, and the DJ cut the music. I saw Claire smirk and Macy threw me a wink.
“Ladies and gentlemen we have a special treat tonight.” The DJ began. “With the future King returning from the dead, all is right in the world. Now a little birdie told me that we have an amazing singer in the house, so let’s give a big hand to our very own, Princess Niky!”
Cheers erupted through the building and Niky looked like a deer caught in the headlights. The DJ handed her a mic, and I gave her an encouraging smile as “Love Story” by Taylor Swift began.
