Chapter 14: Subjects

1727 Words
Niky A scream left my mouth as a demon made a cut on my forearm with a silver blade dipped in wolfsbane and vervain. Justin’s grunt of pain followed, but Dylan only winced. Tears blurred my vision, and a coppery taste filled my mouth. “Very interesting.” Bastian mused. “Subject’s two reacts to his mate’s pain, while subject three barely finches. I wonder if there is a way to get subject three to respond.” Justin and Dylan hung from chains that were attached to the ceiling and at Bastian’s order two more demons grabbed Justin and put him in a chair. Justin fought like hell but in the end he lost. I watch as one of them dipped another silver blade in the same mixture. Justin gritted his teeth as the demon sliced right above his heart. I screamed and Dylan cried out. “Stop.” Bastian commanded. He stalked closer to Justin and inspected his arm. “Subject two has fresh marks on his skin from where his mate was cut. Subject three now has a cut above his heart from where an incision was made on subject two.” He came over to me and checked me as well. “Subject one has a mark as well.” He paused. “Cut them both.” This time I was ready, and I stopped myself from screaming as the demons cut both me and Justin, but Dylan was caught off guard and the sound he released was heart breaking. “Very interesting.” Bastian nodded, obviously pleased with himself. “That’s enough for today. We will check back in a couple of hours to see how she is healing, and tomorrow we will try a new concoction. The demons put Justin back in the chains, and then they left. Tears streamed down my face as I cried silently. I couldn’t feel Silver or Storm, and my bond with Justin was weak. I think the only reason I could feel him was because we were in the same room. “Niky baby can you hear me?” Justin’s voice cut through the fog. “Yes.” I hiccupped. “I’m so sorry baby.” Justin sobbed with me. “I’m so sorry.” I most have fallen asleep or passed out from the pain. Maybe it was a little bit of both, but the sound of the door opening woke me up. Dylan snarled at the figure moving towards me and Justin’s head shot up. “Relax Wolfie.” A feminine voice cooed. I recognized that voice though it had been awhile. “Gracey?” I c****d my head to the side. “I heard that my father had the Trybrids locked up and I had to come and see for myself.” She murmured. “What has he done to you?” “He’s been experimenting on us.” Dylan gritted out. “He says he has a new concoction he wants to try.” “Yes, I bribed the lab to tell me what it is.” Gracey grimaced. “What is it?” I croaked out. “Wolfsbane, Vervain, Oleander, and liquid silver.” Gracey shuttered. “Fuck.” Justin groaned. “Where are we?” “A warehouse that my father owns.” She told him as she started cleaning me up. “You’ve been here for a week.” “A week?” I gasped. “Can you get us out?” “No.” She shook her head. “My father would know that it was me since it was my access code that opened the door, and I’m sorry, but I am more terrified of him than I am of you.” Justin scoffed. “f*****g demons all the same.” Gracey turned to glare at my mate. “I will however get word to Izzy, and she can tell your family where you are.” She hissed. We heard a door slam in the distance and Gracey jumped. “I have to go, but I promise to get you help.” “Why though?” Justin grunted. “Because Izzy was right.” She vanished into thin air moments before the door to the room we were being held in swung open. Bastian sauntered in with his usual entourage. “Who’s ready to get started?” Gracey I hid in the shadows as my father entered having masked myself just in time. “Who’s ready to get started?” He asked and the princess flinched away from him. “Bring the syringe.” My father ordered. Another one of my father’s lackeys entered with a small silver briefcase. The princess started squirming in her chair, and I could hear the low growls from her mate and brother-in-law as the demon approached with the new solution. I watched in abstract horror as the demon slammed the needle straight into her neck. A blood curdling scream left her mouth and I had to cover my own to hide my sob. I needed to get to Izzy before my father killed them. With that thought in mind I teleported straight to the packhouse of Black Ridge. Straight to my sister. A startled yell left her mouth and her Alpha mate jumped to his feet. “Gracey?” Izzy asked covering her heart. “What the hell are you doing here?” “I need your help.” My voice shook as I spoke. “Well not me specifically.” “No!” Her mate snarled. “I don’t know what game you are playing Gracey, but I want no part of it.” Izzy told me sternly. “Leave.” “No!” I gasped. “I promised I would get them help!” Fear enveloped my heart as I realized that if I couldn’t convince her then the Trybrids would die. “Who?” The Alpha asked. “The Trybrids.” I sobbed. “Oh, Izzy it’s horrible. He’s got them locked up, and he’s experimenting on them. That poor girl.” Izzy grabbed me roughly. “Do you know where father is holding them?” I nodded. “No.” The Alpha shook his head. “It’s probably a trap.” “No.” I shook my head. “No, you have to believe me.” My whole body shook as I sobbed into my hands. “You were right Izzy. Our father is a monster.” “Isaac let me handle this.” Izzy looked to her mate, then she looked at me. “Show me.” I nodded and let my walls down so she could see into my memories. As the most recent memory played I heard Izzy sob. “We need to inform the Queen immediately.” “So, it’s true then?” Alpha Isaac asked. “Yes, and if we don’t hurry, then Niky, Justin, and Dylan will die.” Izzy sobbed and her mate came to hold her. I felt a twinge of jealousy but pushed it down. The next few moments rushed by and somehow we were standing outside the palace in Nahonia. The guards ushered us through quickly, and soon we were standing in what appeared to be a conference room. The room was full of people. Some I recognized and others I did not. The Queen turned to look at us. I shrunk behind my sister. “What is it?” She asked. “We know where Niky, Justin, and Dylan are.” Izzy told her. “How?” Mehgan, Dylan’s mate asked. “Because my sister told us.” Izzy pushed me forward. “T-They are be-being held in a warehouse in A-Aurora, Colorado.” I stammered out. “Why should we believe you?” Princess Amber asked. “Because I-“ I trailed off. “She showed me, and it’s not good.” Izzy cut in. “It’s not good, and we must go now before my father kills them.” Another man stepped forward and I felt the power radiating from him. King Alpha Thomas. “Do you trust them?” He asked and I realized he was talking to Alpha Isaac. “I trust my mate and Luna yes.” He nodded. “Then what the hell are we waiting for.” Another man I recognized as Alpha Ethan snarled. “Let’s go.” Bastian This new round of experiments was extremely helpful, but I felt that my time with the three Trybrids was drawing to an end. As I left the warehouse my right hand man approached. “Gareth.” I greeted. “Sir I just got word from our scouts in Nahonia.” He bowed his head. “Gracey and Izzy were seen entering the castle with that Alpha your daughter insisted w*****g herself out to.” “I see.” I nodded. “So Gracey has turned her back on us then?” “It appears so.” Gareth nodded. “What would you like to do?” “Release the Trybrids.” I ordered. “I don’t need them any longer, at least for now.” “And Gracey?” Gareth questioned. “I will deal with Gracey.” I snapped. “When I got my hands on that girl she is going to regret ever having been born.” I muttered that part under my breath. “Go now!” Gareth and a few others rushed back inside the warehouse, and I teleported home I still had many plans for the Trybrids, but for now I would go over the data I had collected and then I would find a way to turn them to my side of this godforsaken war with my sister. “You know father?” My son’s voice cut through my thoughts. “You could turn them to your side if you told them the truth.” “The truth?” I raised an eyebrow at him. “Yes, the truth about Ambrielle, and how this isn’t a holy war, but a vendetta.” He grinned at me, and I suppressed the urge to smack him. “I could do that, but most likely they will take her side, don’t be a fool Aim.” I snarled. “The Trybrids will pick me in due time. I just have to play the long game.”
