As she was walking back to join Tony on the tailgate, her phone rang again. Dreading even looking at it but knowing she couldn’t ignore it, she glanced at the caller ID. Renee was calling back. Feeling ashamed for even considering dodging a problem, she reached in to answer it.
“Hi, Lindsey. It’s Renee. Tony forgot to tell you that I was going to call you, didn’t he?” Her tone was very knowing.
“He did. He mentioned it after you had called the first time. Sorry that I missed it. It took me a minute to find the phone and then something else came up that I had to take care of.”
