“What?” She looked up at him, startled.
“Try to keep perfectly still.”
They both sat in silence as she made one last effort, failing to keep the limbs still for more than a few seconds.
“Your brain processes your thoughts before sending command signals. The machine can’t tell the difference between the processed and unprocessed thoughts, meaning it obeys all of them. So each time you try not to do something, you think about doing it and the limb does exactly what you were trying not to do.”
“So it can’t tell one thought from another?”
“Nope. Not yet.”
“So it just... hears all my thoughts?”
“Uh, well... sort of, but it’s not recording or listening to anything that doesn’t have to do with the limb. So it’s not going to listen in and tell me about the big crush you have on me.”
