CHAPTER 17. Back In Time

1343 Words
EMIR'S POV I am now walking on the streets back to the cabin, the wind is a bit calmer now than earlier. The surrounding is quiet as the residents already locked themselves inside their houses unlike in the city that never had a quiet evening like this. In this place where I always find the true serenity. I walked along the same street where the little kid approached me earlier, then suddenly stopped and thought about the watch. "Same place," I whispered to myself and pulled out the watch inside my pocket. I wore it, taking a deep breath before closing my eyes. I think about what happened earlier but I didn't get to it deeper when suddenly I got distracted when my phone rings again, it was my father-in-law. I sighed and hesitate to answer it but I did, "Hello dad," I answered. "Son, where are you? Aren't you going to see your wife?" But I didn't get to respond to the question. "Look, I know I've been harsh with you when I saw you at the hospital and didn't even care about your feelings but you can't blame me for doing that because it was my daughter, and it hurts me so much. The day when you marry my daughter, that's also when I swear and give my commitment to be your father. A father may be nuts sometimes but it only lasts for a short time, I hope you understand that. Everyone says that you're heartless and cruel but I know deep inside you're hurting, we both are. So don't hide yourself Emir and let's overcome this pain together." I didn't notice that I was affected by his words and only just felt the tears rolling down my face already "I can't," I told him and ended the call. I don't know for how long I stand at the same spot and lift my arm with the watch and close my eyes. The wind suddenly blows up heavily, "Mr. I haven't eaten yet since yesterday." I heard a little voice. I abruptly opened my eyes and was shocked, my heart was pounding in the unbelievable experience. I pulled out my phone and looked at it. It was five in the afternoon, I also checked on my call logs and there is no record that Henry called. I look down at the boy and crouched, "Did your parents die last week?" I asked him. "Yes, Mr. How did you know?" He asked, but I don't know what to answer. I pulled out bills from my wallet and gave them to him. "Buy food and warm clothes for yourself," I told him and stood up. I saw how his eyes got wider while looking at the money. "Thank you so much, Mister!" He said and done, ran away. I look at him, he runs just like how he ran the first time we met at the same place. I mean, the first time I saw him. I can't describe the emotions I have now, I can't believe that that was it. I didn't even feel anything, I thought my body would be shattered into pieces or something, nothing had changed, except the feeling of my intoxication. I felt it was gone because of the sudden event but not because I came back to the event before I put alcohol inside my body. I turned my heels back to the bar, I ran and sat on the table in the same spot. I observed every move and it's all been repeated, and a waiter comes to me, the same person from earlier? Or should I say from the future? I don't know now really. "Sir?" He asked me, waking up from my thoughts, but I'm already tipsy. "Just give me a cold glass of water please," I said and pay the waiter that much higher than the cost of whiskey he gave me from the other dimension. Yeah, that might sound accurate, I guess. "Right away sir," he said and turned. I keep on looking around waiting for the old man to come to me, but he seems nowhere to be found. "Did you see the old man that used to stay here always and get drunk, the one who always wore a checkered long sleeve polo and old jeans?" I asked the waiter when he returned, but he furrowed his eyebrows and looked up to the ceiling, trying to think who might it. "Do you know his name, sir?" He asked. "Ahh, no. I forgot to ask him." I mumbled. "I'm sorry sir, but I didn't know someone like you mention, the only people who keep on coming here almost every night is that group of men and the pianist." He said pointing to the group of men who I think are the same age as mine and the pianist? I'm certain that it's not him. I sighed. "Never mind, thank you," I said and drank the water. Later on my phone rings and it is Henry, but I didn't answer it and turned off my phone. I stood up and went out of the bar, I looked around again, trying to see if I could see the old man, but still, I didn't see any glimpse of him. I start walking back to the cabin, at a fast pace. I slumped on the couch and took a deep breath trying to sink everything into my system. I hold the watch near my face, it really doesn't look good to stare at, a very old but not classic, yet it is still working and it also changed when I traveled back in time. "Can you really bring my Hope back?" I asked it and I smirked. "Yes," I mumbled to myself looking at it. I have to go back to the city as soon as possible. I dial Henry's number, I felt my hands are sweating and shaking not because of worry but with the excitement to see my wife again. "Sir, I've been calling yo…" "I'm coming back to the city, prepare for my flight." I cut him out and gave my command. "Sir, about the test with Miss Ariane," he starts again. "I don't care about it, just do what I told you to do, and hurry," I said and ended the call. I took a shower and packed my things, then called the driver to pick me up and drive me to the airport. The whole time inside my private plane, I am gawking at the mysterious watch. I can't believe that it is really happening but I'm just curious why the old man is suddenly gone. After two hours of flight I am finally back, "Welcome back Mr. Villafranco," Henry immediately greeted me but I only walked past him straight to the car. "Sir, the paternity test came out positive." He announced without my consent. "I don't wanna hear about it, just drive," I said. "Sir, have you changed your mind? Do you want to come over to Miss Hope? Tomorrow is the last day of her funeral, I just thought…" "Could you stop talking and just drive!" I annoyingly yelled at him. When I arrived at the mansion, I quickly locked myself up inside Hope's room and sat in the bed, I pulled the watch and wore it, I closed my eyes and thought of Hope. But I've been thinking of her for a few minutes now but nothing is happening. I took a deep breath and kept on thinking about her, but I was only getting frustrated because nothing is happening. My chest is pounding in irritation and I reach the lamp on the bedside table and throw it furiously. My jaw clenched and grip my knuckles hard, "Why is it not working!?" I furiously asked myself. The door suddenly burst open, and everything seems to stop around me and my body starts to feel like melting down, looking at the most beautiful woman in front of me, "Hope?" I whispered through the air.
