I EMIR'S POV
I flew back to San Antonio again, trying to escape the sadness of losing my wife. I don't want or need anyone's support and sympathy, I just want to be alone.
It is dark outside and the wind is raging furiously, but still, I decided to go to the bar to drown myself in liquor that will surely help me to get into slumber.
As I walked along the streets, I saw the flowers dancing with the rhythm of the whistling wind but my attention was dragged by a little kid who's asking for a penny, I stared at him, wondering how can a parent let this kid outside in this kind of weather, he is supposed to stay inside their house, warming his fragile body.
"Mister I haven't eaten yet since yesterday." He told me.
I crouched to level his height and ask,
"Where are your useless parents? How did they allow you outside like this and didn't feed you?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows but the kid bends his head down.
"I'm an orphan, my parents died a week ago and they are not useless," He told me with a scolding face before turning his back on me and running.
My gaze was glued to the kid until his image had gone into the dark part of the street. I sighed, I don't know what to think to myself, I offended a little kid but it wasn't my intention.
When I got inside the bar, I looked around and sighed, remembering that I just came here just a few months ago after Hope had an accident, and now I'm here again, the difference is just I don't have a wife to go back to anymore.
I ordered myself a bottle of whisky and sat alone at a table at the edge part of the bar where it is separated from the other when the stranger old man walked in my direction.
"You came back to San Antonio to grieve for your lost wife, you are blaming yourself because you are the one who pulled the trigger that caused her death." He mumbled while making himself comfortable on the seat across from me, I looked at him with a scowled face.
"Don't look at me like that, my friend, you are the one who told me all that." He said with a wicked smirk.
"Are you kidding me old man? I just arrived here and didn't even gulp a single drop of liquor yet."
"And by the way, I just remember. A friend will call you, informing you that the result is positive and the child is really yours, Mr. Emir Villafranco." The stranger old man added.
I slammed the table furiously as he said that and glared at him.
"Don't start it again, and look, I'm too old for a physical fight. Don't you know that it is my third time explaining everything to you? But you know what? I give up, I thought I could help you to bring back your wife, but I guess it is not for you, so I gotta go." He said and about to leave but I quickly stopped him.
"Wait! What did you say? How am I supposed to bring my wife back? Is it really possible?" I asked, looking at him seriously. He smirks and sits again on the chair. Just then my phone rings, it was Henry,
"Yes? Any update?"
"Yes sir, we already have the result of the paternal test," Henry said from the other line.
"So what is it," I asked and looked at the old man who was staring at me as well, he's like waiting for a response.
"Sir, congratulations, the child was yours." My eyes widened in disbelief.
"No, this can't be happening," I said and ended the call. Suddenly, the old man chuckled in front of me, I scolded him.
"You look ridiculous, I saw this expression multiple times already, but still I can't get enough of it. Why are you so upset having a child?" He said, enjoying his madness.
"It's none of your business." I hissed.
"Yeah, that's a sad truth, because that is your life after all. So tell me, are you ready to know my secret and amend your deeds?" He asked,
"So tell me, how did you do it?" I asked him seriously, I badly want to get out of this mess and bring back my wife if I could, even if it means believing this strange old man.
I never believed in silly kid's stories before but now that I'm older, I guess there's nothing to lose if I do.
"It's called magic." He said and smirked wickedly.
"Do you still remember the story about the Goddess?" He started, while I don't understand why am I listening to this stranger, but how did he know about all those things, we haven't spoken yet until he approached me.
"What about it?" I asked.
"Do you know what happened to her after she uses her ability?" He asked.
"How would I know?" I replied sarcastically, but he only laughed.
"Of course, you wouldn't know! Because I don't know either." He said and laughed, but I only looked at him coldly.
"I really can't believe myself listening to you."
"Here," he suddenly said and handed me a watch, but I don't accept it.
"What am I going to do with that? I am Emir Villafranco, the president and owner of Villafranco Group, I hav," I told him but he suddenly cracked up, the people inside the bar turned to look in our direction because of his madness.
"Would you stop that?" I told him fiercely.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just enjoying this moment." He said, taking a deep breath and calming himself.
"Accept this, and discover the priceless experience you'll soon have." He seriously told me and handed me the cheap-looking watch.
"First you must remember, it will only bring you to the past but not to the future. Don't make any decision without analyzing the consequences from your present, something might change or you might lose someone from it, the future is always at stake when you decided to go back in time. Also, your age will not be affected even traveling back in time, including your health status, meaning you only have limited time to rejoice in your adventure. Now, everything is all in your hand, Emir Villafranco."
"Now wear it and go to the place where the scene happened that you want to go back, then close your eyes, think about it, deeper than your thoughts and you'll see." He explained.
I don't know what to say or do but to only stare at it. Thinking if it is really possible to have that kind of ability just by using this unlovely watch.
"Can I ask a favor before you start using it?" He suddenly said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Get drunk with me," he said with a smile.
I don't understand why I suddenly become a fool with this kind of possession, but he sounds familiar to me, his actions, the way he speaks, and the way how he taps his finger on the table, just like how he is doing now.
We stayed at the bar till almost midnight, he has a lot of stories, some are crazy and unrealistic but whatever it is, all I want is to grab the chance to possibly have my wife back in my life again.
