"Hey, sunshine." Joey whispered into her ear. His voice was soft and just the way Carter remembered it. His arms were warm and the hug felt so comforting.
Carter froze. He was hugging her? Was this some kind of trick?
“What are you-” she started but he pulled back and gave her a weak smile.
"I know, I know," he sighed. "You must be confused. Come on, you shouldn't be here." He stood and walked over to a door before pushing it open and going inside. Carter hesitated before following him.
It looked like a bedroom. The walls and floor were dull gray with no windows or bathroom or closet. There was a small bed with white sheets and a pillow but that was the only thing in the room. Joey sat on the bed and Carter sat across him on the floor.
