Once the doctor came, everything else came in a rush. Carter watched as the doctor put an IV in Dawn, then hooked her up to a machine that showed contractions coming. So far they were small. Toby held Dawn's hand and spoke softly to her, though she was a wreck of tears and sobbing about Jess and the baby. Echo and Joey were safely hidden away in a locked room with the other non-fighters, while Lucas and several other wolves guarded the pack house.    Carter could hear howling and wolves slamming into the walls of the house, trying to get inside.
