As soon as we got upstairs, Jesse slammed the door shut behind us. I started down the hallway, but he yanked my arm so hard I nearly lost my balance, my coffee cup slipping from my hand and shattering against the floor. “What the f**k, Jesse?!” I snapped, my voice echoing off the walls. “What the hell were you doing down there?” he barked back. “I told you already! I have every damn right to confront that asshole!” I shot at him, fire in my chest. “No. You are not allowed in the dungeon. You f*****g know that,” he roared. “Since when?! Nobody ever f*****g told me that!” I spat, my fists clenching. “You’ve never been down there before!” he growled. “Because I never needed to before! But I wanted the truth. I wanted to know why he’s lying!” I shouted, every word sharp enough to cut.
