Jack could feel his mate trying to distance himself from him and it hurt and frustrated him to no end. Not again! He was relieved Michael had recovered from his shock, no longer looking at him with frightened wild eyes that had cut Jack so deeply his wolf was lying depressed in the back of his mind, but to be stared at with that closed expression as if they had never kissed, held each other in their arms, and just escaped who knows what horrors together… that hurt nearly as bad. His father had underestimated Jack, not expecting him to run nor his wolf to be as fast as he was, allowing for their escape to his grandfather and the other members of the pack. But that had mostly been luck; it could have easily gone far worse. And they were still out there. Jack needed to get Michael back
