*Victor’s POV*
Mel and I looked at each other as we hid within the shadows. The wind was blowing our scent away from them luckily, and it seemed they hadn’t noticed us yet. The bastard lied to us all this time! I wanted to snap his neck. If he would’ve told us about that tattoo from the beginning, then we could’ve had that in place before Celina began the transformation. Pretty damn selfish of him!
Now Celina probably hated my guts because we’re mates…or were mates…or I don’t even know what we are anymore. All I know is my presence caused her to change, even though I rejected her. And that’s another thing! The rejection didn’t even work! She fell into a coma and it only seemed to accelerate her change. What in the actual f**k was the point of us suffering then?
Mel looked so heartbroken for Tommy. Of course that’s her mate, but since the bond was never fully severed, she could faintly feel some of his pain. Everything is a s**t show. If our parents would’ve just told us this as pups, we could’ve been trained differently, maybe even set new parameters or rules or something to protect the humans and wolves, but both sides dropped the ball big time.
I tried to suppress my growl when Tommy said William was looking for Celina. Celina having two additional souls is unique and strange, but knowing that the first mate of William was the same…is that why William is after her? Because of her two animal spirits? ‘He will not have mate’ growled Apollo angrily.
‘We can’t let them go alone’ Mel mind-linked me. I nodded, looking at the two as they stood up. ‘We’ll confront them when they go meet this witch. I’ll tear a new one into him for keeping this a secret though, so I can’t promise you that your mate will be in one piece once I’m done with him’ I warned Amelia. ‘Not if I get to him first’ huffed Amelia, just as angry as I was.
We were friends –hell – family growing up. Why didn’t Tommy confide in us with what happened to his parents? No wonder we haven’t seen them around lately. If my father knew, we might’ve been able to get the witch here sooner and protected Celina better. The original lycan was still alive after all this time, and he’s been secretly creating a lycan army. Have the hunters known about this as well?
We haven’t had much interactions with hunters except for the annual conference between supernatural and hunters to keep up to date with any issues between races. Hunters despise any supernatural. The treaty has been going on for centuries, and I fear that this might be the catalyst to absolve the treaty and for Hunters to let loose and start a mass g******e against all supernatural kind.
Amelia and I looked at each other, determined about what we should do. As Celina and Tommy retreated back to the school, we decided to head back to the pack house, and scourge the library for any information on William, the war between the hunters and lycans, and anything else we would need. The library didn’t have much to the public eye, but in the private room that only Alphas can enter, we snuck in and found quite a bit on the history of William. I mind-linked the tracker that was tailing Tommy and told him to keep at a distance and warn me at once if he left with Celina anywhere.
*Celina’s POV*
I laid on my bed, pondering over Tommy’s words. Was William after me because of my Lycan? ‘Will you ever tell me your name?’ I questioned the lycan, who hasn’t stirred much after my talk with Tommy. ‘Why do you care? You’re going to seal me up regardless’ she snarled, and I sensed the pain she was in for my decision. Calypso was quiet as well, and I wondered if she approved of my decision or was against it as well.
I sighed, rubbing my forehead. ‘What else can I do? We’re supposed to be a team, but you constantly want to take over and hurt anyone that crosses us, even if it’s something minor. How can I trust you when you don’t consider Calypso or my own feelings?’ I questioned her. Silence filled the room and my mind as she receded deeper into my mind. Why was she so stubborn?
‘If she’s sealed…the bond will be gone’ Calypso spoke sadly. I sat up from my bed, a frown on my face. ‘What do you mean?’ I questioned her, but also receded to the back of my mind. What is up with these two today! I didn’t have time to deal with two moody wolves in my head. Just as I was about to leave my room my phone vibrates. I quickly snatch it off the night stand to see a message from Tommy.
Tom-Tom: Meet me near the northern border at midnight. That’s the only time she has
Me: What about your trackers?
Tom-Tom: I told you I still have my abilities ;)
Me: Copy that cap’n XD
After waiting a couple of hours I snuck out of my room, looking around to make sure my parents were asleep and none of Victor’s warriors were watching me. I landed on the ground softly and quickly made my way towards the northern border. You think it was easy dodging warriors and guards? It felt like I was in a Mission Impossible movie, the theme blazing in my mind as I ducked and hid, reaching the northern border.
I looked around, not seeing Tommy anywhere. Where is this guy? “Right on time” I jumped and turned, accidently kicking his thigh. “For f***s sake Tommy” I hissed. He groaned and rubbed his thigh. “My bad…I thought you heard me” he grumbled. “Sorry…” I whispered. He straightened up and looked around. “I managed to lose them near the school” Tommy continued. I looked around as well, but couldn’t help the feeling we were being watched. The two of us then took off. “The patrol shift changes at this time, so we have about a three minute window to step out of the border undetected” Tommy spoke. We hid behind some trees as the guards walked away. We nodded to each other as we darted out of the border. I had to admit it was a little exhilarating sneaking out like this. Maybe I should’ve done this more often instead of being the good little girl.
A car suddenly swerved past us, drifting until it was facing us. The headlights were off, and all you could hear is the sound of the exhaust. Tommy and I froze on the spot, our hearts beating quickly as the unknown car suddenly turned the high beams at us, causing us to block the light for a moment. The perks of being supernatural? Hypersensitive hearing and smell and sense of sight. The bad of being supernatural? Sensitive eyes when we can see fine in the dark. The doors to the car opened and two figures stepped out. Tommy and I took a step back and I lowered my center of gravity slightly, my legs spread shoulder width apart.
I was ready to pounce or run, depending on who the hell blocked our path. Once the two figures stepped in front of the lights my eyes widen in surprise. “What the f**k are you two doing here?” questioned Tommy surprised. Both of them came closer until they were barely two feet from us.
“Victor.” I whispered, his eyes narrowed at me. “Celina” he responded, his arms crossed over his chest. To say he was pissed would be an understatement. “Where are you two going?” Amelia asked, crossing her arms in the same fashion as her eyes narrowed at Tommy. “We’re eloping.” I responded sarcastically. Both Mel and Vic growled at us, catching us by surprise.
“What is it to the two of you were we go or don’t go?” questioned Tommy defiantly. “First of all, you are sneaking out of pack lands with my mate” Victor snapped as he took a step towards Tommy. “Second of all, you’re going to see a witch without the Alpha’s consent” he continued. Tommy and I looked at each other, surprised that they knew where we were going.
“Third of all” Mel started, walking closer to us again. “You should’ve trusted your best friend on this so we could’ve helped you” Tommy snorted. “Help us? Like how you helped me by rejecting me” he snapped at Amelia. I heard Amelia growl angrily and quickly slapped Tommy, making him stumble backwards slightly.
“I didn’t know what was going on with my father and the humans you asshole! I rejected you because I thought my father would force you out of these lands and into danger just because you’re my mate! I did it to save your life” I looked at Tommy who looked at her surprised. I rolled my eyes at the two. “You two really needed to talk about this sooner” I grumbled.
“Don’t Lina…you could’ve told me what you were going to do” Victor snapped at me. “And why should I? So you can lock me up like some deranged animal for the safety of everyone? You never took my thoughts or my feelings into consideration. You two just decided it was best to guard me like a criminal and make sure I didn’t interact with anyone” I snapped back.
“So I’m going to change that! I refuse to be locked away because I can’t control her. So if I have to put her to sleep then so be it” I crossed my arms, staring defiantly at Victor. His jaw clenched for a moment, his gaze never leaving mines. “Well good thing we overheard you two. Get in the car” he ordered.
“No” I replied back. Victor growled lowly, standing inches away from me. “I said get in the car. You two are not going alone. Anyone can mistake you for rogues” I looked at him shocked. “You’re taking us there?” questioned Tommy after composing himself. “If you would’ve trusted us sooner Tommy, we could’ve done this a long time ago” Mel replied, her expression full of hurt and sadness.
“You didn’t even explain yourself. I can’t mind-link or read minds Amelia. I figured you all knew about our lycan genes and that’s why you rejected me” Mel shook her head before she jumped onto Tommy, hugging him tightly. “If I would’ve known from the beginning what was going on, I would have never rejected you like that. I can still feel our bond Tommy…it never broke” she pulled away from him, her eyes glistening from the tears that threatened to spill. Tommy looked conflicted, staring at Amelia.
I know he loves her…his actions, his gazes and even his attitude expresses it. “Fine…let’s just go before it gets later and our parents realize we’re not in bed” I said with a sigh. Mel smiled softly at Tommy as Tommy rubbed her cheek gently. Victor grabbed my hand, pulling me away from the free love show before me. The tingles were slowly getting stronger again as I looked at him, our hands intertwined.
“I told you I wasn’t going to leave you alone in this” he whispered to me. I smiled slightly, my chest aching for more of his touch. But for now, I need to tame this wild beast within me and figure out how to take down William once and for all.
