Chapter 18

*Celina’s POV*   The silence was awkward and borderline painful. Victor drove straight into town as Amelia sat next to Tommy. Tommy would give directions to Victor once in a while, until we finally reached a dead end street. The houses in the neighborhood looked rundown and abandoned, and I looked around warily. You could pull this scene straight out of a horror movie…it was very unnerving. We all got out of the car as Tommy walked in front of us.  “Just wait here for a sec.” Tommy spoke softly as he headed towards the small house, knocking on the door gently. There were a few lights on what I can assume was the second floor. The door opened, barely making a noise as a petite young woman stepped out. I was surprised to see such a small woman standing there confidently, and being a witch.  Okay, I admit it…I had a very stereotypical idea on how she was supposed to look like. It was either two extremes: one being old, haggy, and looking evil like the wicked witch of the east, or the second extreme, tall, gorgeous, and temptress like a succubus. I have an overactive imagination don’t I?  The woman looked like she was maybe 5 foot 5, and that’s exaggerating a bit on the larger side. Her hair was a chestnut brown, cut into a cute pixie cut. She wore shorts and a tank top, and she could definitely pose as a teenager. Wait…was she a teenager? How old was she really? Oh so many questions! I started fidgeting, shifting my weight between my feet anxiously. They were speaking softly, and I could sense a peaceful aura about her.  My body shivered as if I were cold and I crossed my arms, rubbing my shoulders lightly. The witch suddenly stopped speaking, her hand glowing as a staff suddenly appeared. “We’re too late” she said in alarm. Victor and Amelia looked at her confused and then moved closer to me protectively. We’re too late?  “For what?” I stammered, feeling a sense of dread filling deep into my soul. I was shivering, as if I were freezing, even though the night was a warm night. Calypso whined in my head as the lycan began to growl defensively. ‘he’s here…we have to run’ the lycan growled nervously. Suddenly the witch and Tommy began to run, shouting for us to get in the car. Growls were heard as shadows jumped over the roofs of the homes around us, some jumping in between Tommy and us.  I gasped as I saw their glistening teeth…their eyes shimmering under the moonlight. Lycans! Dozens of them! Victor and Amelia growled, pushing me against the car. “Get inside” Victor ordered me. “But I can fight” I tried to argue. “They’re after you…get inside…please” I looked at the twins before slowly opening the door and sliding back in, closing the door shut. Within moments our group was surrounded as Tommy and the witch moved closer to the car, all four forming a perimeter around me.  This was wrong! I should be out there with them fighting! I trained with them as children, and now with not only a wolf but a lycan, I could take them on! I jumped back at the sound of something slamming against the windshield, cracking the glass. I leaned over the seat, watching as Tommy was dragged off the hood the car by a large beast. Its fur was grey, and it definitely did not look soft. The car rocked as bodies slammed from all sides, growling, howling and yelping filling the air. I heard the witch cursing as flashes of light illuminated all around me. It looked like a full blown war out there!  The passenger door was ripped off the hinges as suddenly claws dug onto my shoulder, dragging me out. I screamed and punched the arm as I was unceremoniously slammed to the ground, saliva dripping onto my chest from the lycan that was growling at my face. Blood seeped through my clothes as the claw wounds began healing quickly. How the hell do I change and fight! ‘Calypso! Lycan! A little help here!’ I mentally called for help. ‘let me go in front’ Calpyso chimed in as I tried to relax my mind while holding the snout of the lycan, trying to snap it’s jaws at my neck.  I growled as I felt Calypso taking over, her strength flowing into me as I kicked the lycan off, my nails elongating until I had claws.  The lycan squared off against me, eyeing me as if I were its prey.  I growled loudly as I hunched over in position, feeling the bones in my body breaking as they rearranged themselves. The pain lasted a few seconds, and it was much easier than the last time. I now stood on all four paws, the hairs on my back bristling in warning at the lycan as I stood there in my wolf form.  It felt so different as to when I transformed into a Lycan. I couldn’t speak, as my snout was fully formed. Only growls and howls could be heard, and I wondered if I could mind-link with Victor of any of the others. I lowered my body slightly, getting ready to pounce at the lycan when golden fur blurred before me, tackling the lycan and ripping its throat off. I immediately knew it was Victor. I felt the pull much stronger in wolf form and I couldn’t help but walk towards him nuzzling against his shoulder and neck.  He turned his head towards me, licking my snout and neck as he whined slightly. I snorted, shaking my head to let him know I was fine. We both stood side by side as I took the scene before me.  I saw Amelia plowing through them with a vengeance. I saw the witch on top of the car blasting lycans, left and right, but where was Tommy? I sniffed the air, looking around in a panic as I moved around the car, making my way towards Amelia that look like a crazed beast herself.  Victor moved quickly next to me, and I understood why Amelia was so crazed. She stood before his body, shielding him from the Lycans as Tommy laid there, his face flushed in sweat as blood pooled around him. ‘Oh my god…Calypso…we have to swtich!’ I shrieked out. Calypso quickly gave me control as I shift back into the human form, running towards Tommy.  “Oh god…Vic…we have to get help” I cried out as I looked around, finding a piece of torn clothing on the ground. I quickly leaned over to Tommy, wrapping the fabric over his arm like a tourniquet, my hands shaking as I tied it as tightly as I could. I felt Victor shift near me and grabbed Tommy.  “Get in the car now” he ordered as I quickly ran into the driver’s side, starting up the car. I saw Victor put Tommy in the backseat and Amelia quickly shifted, jumping right behind him, her face streaked with tears as she held onto Tommy. I quickly jumped over the middle console as the witch jumped into the back seat, Amelia now moving to have Tommy’s head on her lap.  Victor revved the car up and drove in reverse out of the dead end street, the remaining lycans running to catch us. “Why are there so many lycans! I thought they were extinct?” I questioned in shock as the car spun around and Victor slammed on the gas, driving off as fast as he could. “He has been hunting humans down for the past few months…and forcing the changes” the witch spoke up. I turned around on the seat, holding on to the seat as the door was missing.  “Who are you?” I managed to ask. “I am Lilith, the last witch of the Black Rose coven” she spoke. “They were eradicated centuries ago…when William was alive” Amelia spoke, glaring at the witch. “That they were…Contrary to how I look, I’ve bene around a few centuries, hiding from William” Lilith spoke.  “He’s dead! So how the f**k are there still lycans!” shouted Amelia. “He’s still alive…has been since his mate sacrificed her life to kill him. All it did was weaken him into a slumber. But her rebirth has awoken him.” Lilith looked at Tommy before pulling something out of her small bag. She tied it around Tommy’s arm and it glowed slightly, the bleeding stopping. “That should hold him from bleeding to death” She looked at Amelia, her expression somber. “I don’t have the power to restore his missing arm…all I can do is heal what is already hurt, but I cannot bring what was once lost” Amelia choked back a sob as she rubbed Tommy’s cheek, who now lay unconscious on her lap.  I swallowed the lump in my throat as I took in his condition. He was battered and bruised, but the arm with the tattoo looked like it was bitten right off. “They targeted the arm with the tattoo” I finally realized. Lilith nodded, lifting her gaze to me. “He must’ve realized I am still alive, and that I was able to place the spell to conceal lycans. He knows who I am, as I helped Eris to stop him last time” I frowned at her, confused as to the name.  “Who’s Eris?” I asked her confused, only to receive yet another shock in this life time. ‘I am’ the lycan spoke in my mind.
