*Victor’s POV*
I heard muffled voices before the silence began to ring in my ears. I groaned, feeling my body heavy and sore, as if I was ran over by a truck. Why was everything so dark? Oh right, my eyes were closed. I slowly opened my eyes, confused of my whereabouts for a moment. The walls were white, and the room smelled sterile. I focused on my surroundings and realized I was still at the hospital. Oh no! Celina! I quickly sat up, getting lightheaded as I held my head to steady myself.
“Take it easy.” I heard near me. I turned my head, seeing my father sitting on a couch next to the bed. I must’ve been at the Alpha suite here in the hospital. “What happened?” I asked him confused. “I should be asking you that Victor” his eyes narrowed as he stood up, towering over me over the bed.
“What were you thinking?” he hissed. I couldn’t help the low growl that escaped my lips before I tried to get off the bed. “I have to check on Celina…I don’t have time to deal with your lectures” I replied back. “You will sit down and listen to me” he boomed in his Alpha tone, causing me to flinch slightly.
“But Celina…” I tried to speak, earning a warning growl from my father. “She is in a coma as we speak. Alive, but in an induced coma. Now you will explain to me why you kept the little fact that you were her mate a secret” he snapped. I swallowed hard, unable to stare directly at him.
“What choice did I have? You were so secretive with your intentions between wolves and humans. And then finding out the dangers she could be in if she stayed near me? I had to do what I could to protect her and stop her from changing” I snapped back. My father took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Dad…her eye was changing color earlier…I had to make a decision at that point…you said by the next full moon she would have transform, but she was going through the changes faster than that. What choice did I have?” I whispered the last part in defeat, my chest aching from the hollowness of the bond. My wolf was deathly silent, and I was worried about him as well.
My father nodded slightly, sitting back down. “I don’t understand why my children must suffer the same fate their parents suffered all those years ago…” my father finally spoke after a moment of silence. I shrugged, unable to answer him. The fact that Amelia was mated to Tommy, and I to Celina, didn’t make sense at all.
“Dad…is Tommy also a descendant of lycans?” I asked curiously. My father raised his gaze towards me, raising an eyebrow. “Yes he is, though not from a pure bloodline like Celina and her parents. Why?” my father questioned. “Dad, Amelia rejected him in June” I started.
“And?” he questioned. I groaned in frustration, running my hands over my face. “He never accepted or rejected her rejection. Wouldn’t he have gone through the change as well since we’ve had quite a few full moons?” I questioned exasperated. My father’s eyes glazed over, and I knew he was mind-linking someone.
“There have been no reports of him changing over the summer, and his scent hasn’t changed at all” my father confirmed my suspicions. “How is that possible?” I questioned, getting angry at the fact that I might’ve rejected Celina without cause. “I’m not sure, be he should’ve changed by now.” He stood up, looking determined.
“I think it’s time to pay a visit to the Eatons and find out why” I nodded, getting off the bed. “I’m going with you” my father nodded as he left the room. I put my shoes on and followed close behind. If Tommy was hiding something, we will get to the bottom of it.
About ten minutes after leaving the hospital and getting into my dad’s car, we arrived at Tommy Eaton’s home. My father got out and I followed close behind, Apollo on alert just in case there was a threat nearby. My father rang the doorbell. A couple of minutes later Tommy opened the door, looking at us surprised.
“Alpha…” he said nervously as he fully opened the door, allowing is in. “Sorry for the surprise visit son” my father started as he went inside. I stepped inside and looked around, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. His scent was still the same…so how did he not change?
“Pardon my question Alpha, but to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?” asked Tommy as we sat down in the living room. “Straight to the point, I like it” my father said amused. “I know my daughter rejected you. Did you accept or reject it?” my father quickly asked. Tommy sighed as he leaned against the couch, rubbing his forehead.
“Why is it important?” he finally asked frustrated. My father raised an eyebrow and Tommy averted his gaze and muttered an apology. “I didn’t accept it or reject it Alpha” Tommy finally answered. My father eyed him suspiciously, interlacing his fingers as his elbows rested on his knees. “Do you know of your lineage?” my father questioned.
“You mean the whole lycan myth?” Tommy responded with a question. We both nodded in unison and Tommy shrugged. “What does that have to do with anything?” he asked confused. “You found your mate, were rejected, and you left the bond halfway” my father spoke, his voice getting a hint of authority in it. “Yet you are still a human. Why?” my father narrowed his eyes at Tommy, who looked between us confused.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about” Tommy answered confused. My father let out a low growl in warning, causing Tommy to straighten up. “Listen that’s just a children’s story…I’m still human so obviously it’s not true” Tommy tried to reason. I stood up, glaring at him.
“It’s anything but a legend because Celina almost transformed today.” I snapped. Tommy looked at me surprised. “What do you mean?” he questioned worried. “She’s my mate, and she was already going through the changes. Her sense of smell, the tingles and sparks, her eye color. I had to reject her and she accepted the rejection” I swallowed the pain that threatened to explode from my chest.
“It was the only way to stop her from changing into a Lycan. So we’ll ask again…why are you a HUMAN!” I snarled the last part angrily, nearly lounging at him before my father grabbed me, holding me away from Tommy. “Calm down” he said with authority. Tommy looked lost in thought, his face showing pain for a moment. “I honestly don’t know…trust me…I swear I thought that was just a myth, because I didn’t feel any different” Tommy explained. It hurt…it hurt because I could hear the sincerity in his voice. He was a lucky son of a b***h that’s for sure.
“Tommy…if anything changes, and I mean ANYTHING, come to me directly. It can be the difference between life and death for you and Celina…” my father spoke. Tommy nodded quietly as we move past the living room, leaving his home. ‘He’s lying’ my father mind-linked me as we walked towards the car. I growled but my father gave me a look to shut it. I grumbled as I got into the car and my father drove off.
“His heart beat was erratic. But what I don’t understand is how he’s still human. He knows how…he knows what was going to happen to him. I want surveillance on him for the next few weeks. Wherever he goes, whomever is with him, I want all the details. I want to know who is helping him stay human.
“Got it…I’ll make sure he’s shadowed twenty four seven. He’s not getting away with this” I replied angrily. “Good…now focus that anger and control yourself. Can’t have you being a loose cannon at every single thing Celina related” I huffed at that, as I knew he was right. Celina…Goddess I hope she’s getting better…
