Kayla let her family know that she was going to turn in for the night, but even then, she felt like there was more to say… more to do, and so when they depart from their unit, Kayla leads Ben towards the catwalk near her room. She guides him higher, towards the rungs of the ladder going up to the roof to which he tilts his head, questioning her intent.
“This is my favorite spot on the whole property,” she nods at the possibilities here as if they hadn’t already been just under a blanket of stars before.
Ben shakily climbs up the ladder when she motions around him.
“You won’t fall, I promise,” she adds and listens to the way he exhales, willing himself to go, and then she follows, pushing him higher until she too can make it out.
