Larisa woke up in the hotel room and just like that night, she was alone in the big bed…making her feel like everything that happened last night was but a damn dream.
She knew it wasn’t, the band-aid on her arm was proof enough…that and the fact that she was laying naked in the same room everything happened in AGAIN.
She sat up, throwing the sheets she had been neatly tucked in off of her and sliding off the bed. Her feet felt shaky as she picked up her clothes from the floor, putting them on in a hurry.
When she was done, she looked back at the bedside table where a phone was with a sticky note atop of it. She slowly walked over to it, squinting at the words. ‘I had to leave early for work. Take the phone with you, it’s yours now. I’ll call you later.’
Larisa’s hand trembled as she picked up the phone, gripping it tight in her hand…why was…?
Did he do this to taunt her? Because he knew she had no choice?
She gripped the phone even tighter, walking out the door with a heart that was on the floor. She took a cab home and went back to job hunting which she continued to do for the whole day.
Her rent still wasn’t paid. She had called her prior boss yesterday, asking for compensation for the two weeks she’d worked, but he said she didn’t deserve his money…that she did nothing that made her worthy of it.
That was one of the reasons she had blindly gone to the police. Depression and stress was killing her…she wanted an escape, but she had failed, and once again fallen lower than she’d wanted to go.
Julian…he’d touched her again; intimately…whispered words she didn’t even understand in her ears, and he’d brought her to a point where she should have never gone.
If she had shame; even an ounce of decency…then she wouldn’t have…
Larisa bit her lip, throwing the phone he’d given her against the couch she sat on and frustratingly running her hand through her hair. It was the same phone that had a nude video of her in it…the same phone that had only one person’s contact information…and it was his; cruelly saved as her f*ck buddy.
Dammit…she’d asked so many times already, but why was this…? Why was this all happening to her?
She crossed her legs as she reached for the phone again, typing in; Open reporter jobs in her city for the hundredth time today…
She scrolled through the results, stopping when the phone started to ring…caller ID; f*ck buddy.
Her lips wobbled as she threw the phone down again, scooting away from it. She knew she was supposed to answer, that it was dangerous not to, and yet she sat there and watched the phone ring out once, twice and then thrice.
When it stopped ringing for good, she shakily picked it up again, twisting to her door when a big bang sounded from it. Was that…? Was that him?
A shiver wracked down her spine and fear seized her heart. Please no…god no, not yet please…she wasn’t ready yet…
The door banged again, and her eyes started to water…but then she froze when she heard the voice of the person knocking. “I know you’re in there, come out now!”
It wasn’t him, it was her landlord.
Larisa wiped her eyes as she shuffled off the couch, approaching the door while taking deep breaths to calm her previously shaken self down. She opened it and he glared at her. “I won’t keep up with this act anymore. I tried giving the eviction notice last month when the rent was late again, but you refused to take it. I’m giving you one day to move out…if I see you here after tomorrow, I’ll call the cops to drag you out.”
He walked away after that, and Larisa ran after him. “Please Mr. Philip. I don’t have anywhere else to go, if you kick me out, then…then I~”
“Live on the streets then, I don’t care.”
She grabbed his hand and he yanked it out of her grasp, ripping her gate open. “I don’t care how much you beg, I’m done being too lenient with you. I want you out, by tomorrow!”
And then he twisted down the street. Larisa stood in her spot, watching as he left with tearstained cheeks. Her life was…it was a living hell.
“Well, that didn’t seem to go well…I see you haven’t been paying your rent, let’s just hope that it’s because you’ve been saving it up to give it to me.”
Larisa turned to look behind her, a cold tremor running down her spine when she saw a familiar thug leant casually against her house, hidden so well in the shadow it cast. She stepped back, mouth dropping open. “I…next week, I’ll pay you the interest next week. I got fired, and my boss didn’t pay me, I don’t have any money now.”
“The fact that you got fired and have no money is not my business. I just came here for my monthly installment. Pay up, little girl.”
“I…please, give me until next week. I’ll figure something out. I’ll give you your money.”
He smiled, it was hard to see in the dark of the night, but she caught a glimpse of his teeth. She backed away again, bumping into someone that was standing behind her. She twisted around, finding two of his guys; the ones that always accompanied him.
You see, this man was David; a loan shark, and for a year now, she’d been struggling to pay him back money she didn’t even borrow. She’d left her uncle’s house, but his old habits seemed to have followed her.
He’d borrowed a sh*t load of money, ran away and wrote her name down as the guarantor, and now, she was the one paying in his stead.
They only managed to locate her a year ago and since then, she had to be finding the money she already didn’t have to pay them. She’d shortened her rent on multiple occasions which was why the landlord was so angry…and now, for the first time this year, she didn’t even have a rent to shorten.
The only thing she’d eaten since she got home from the hotel, was a hot cup of noodles. She had nothing else in her house, her fridge and cupboards were empty. When anyone spoke of bad luck, they were definitely speaking of her. “Please sir, I’ll pay the installment next week, I’ll have it by then…I promise.”
“What will you do? Sell your p*ssy? If that’s it, then let me buy first. I know a club that pays well too, I could get you a job there.”
“No, I…I’ll find a job, a real one.”
“Ten dollars per hour when you could be making a thousand in one night? Bring her here boys.”
The men behind her grabbed both her hands, hauling her around to the darker side of the house. The lights that flooded through her window wasn’t enough to illuminate much, but she could see their faces; their vicious eyes and their mouths that were curved in smirks that seemed just as vicious.
She was scared, she hadn’t not paid them before, and she didn’t know what the consequences were. She hoped they weren’t dire and if they were, she hoped she’d be able to avoid them. “Please…” She begged again.
She was forced down onto her knees and the head thug; David stooped in front of her. “If you suck my c*ck, then this installment will be forgotten about. What do you say, pretty girl?”
The stubble around his mouth stretched as he smiled and Larisa felt more scared than ever now. “No, I…I don’t…please just give me one week.”
Tears pricked her eyes when he grabbed her face with one hand, squeezing her cheeks as he stood up. “No, we don’t accept late payments, you’re going to pay now with this mouth of yours.”
His thumb slid against her lips before he pulled his hand back, using it to tamper with the waistband of his pants instead. The two men that held her down whistled. “As always, boss goes first, who’s going next?”
“How about me? I mean, can I go first?”
