Chapter 70 Kross Why didn’t she come? The question wouldn’t leave me. I stared at the wall in front of me, but my mind wasn’t here anymore—not really. It was still back at that empty Ferris wheel cabin. The blue one with the "M" scrawled on the side. The one where I stood like a fool, bouquet in hand, waiting for someone who never came. She called me. She said she needed to see me—urgently. I thought maybe it meant something. That she still believed in me, that maybe she didn’t care what the world was whispering in dark corners. But she didn’t come. And now I was sitting in an interrogation room, cuffed in everything but metal, being dissected piece by piece in front of strangers and ghosts of things I couldn’t prove.
