The days passed by very fast. Megan thought it's because of being on cloud nine with Cole. Now that he is her boyfriend, their meetups seem to be more enjoyable. They even have Sally in the lab which is a ladybug-dog creature. It seems that they are getting far from their research as well.
Both Cole and Megan are done writing their book about the multiverse. Although they keep Sally their secret for now. They want to learn more about the creature's origin. The book will soon be published since they already submitted the manuscript to their benefactor. Megan will be graduating in two days.
Everything looks perfect and she feels that they will have a bright future ahead of them. She can't wait to finish college so that she can focus more on the lab and with Cole. He's a very understanding boyfriend. She cant believe that she will be very lucky to find him after ending her relationship before.
"Babe, you don't have to go to the lab. I know you're busy." Cole told her from the phone.
"I know, I don't have to but I want to." She replied to him as she walked from the street.
Megan just picked up some salad for Sally. It's the weekend so it's her time to come to the lab again. She will be graduating on Monday but she's more excited to work in the lab. Now that they're finished with their first project, it's time to find out how Sally came to be.
"Fine. I'll wait for you here. Be careful on your way!" Cole said, giving up.
He knows his girlfriend too well. She will never take no for an answer. She's very dedicated to their lab, the same as him. But now he needs to hide his proposal decorations. He's planning to propose to her right after her graduation.
Megan turned from the sidewalk and walked slowly. She's daydreaming about her future after graduation. They are planning to live together in the lab. It's going to be more science along the way. But they are also looking at other theories that are considered to be myths.
She looked at both sides of the road before crossing. The building where their lab is located is right in front of her. She can't wait to see Sally and of course, Cole. She took her step away from the sidewalk but didn't notice a car approaching fast on her left side.
Before she could react, she thought she saw Cole running towards her. But then, darkness swallowed her consciousness. Everything went silent from her surroundings. She panicked not to see Cole from the darkness.

Another road accident because of a drunk driver. This time, it's Megan and Cole is now with her in the ambulance. It's very timely that he has an urge to get out of the lab. He doesn't always do that and waits for her to arrive. But all of a sudden, he felt like he needed to see her from the outside.
He stepped out of the lab and waited for his girlfriend to show up. She saw her looking in both directions of the street to make sure that there's no vehicle coming. He saw that too! Nothing is approaching but as Megan takes her step or crosses the road, a car just hits her.
He can't understand where that car came from. But he saw Megan smiling back at him when it hit her. Cole can't believe that it happens. They are now on their way to the hospital with the ambulance. It seems that all his dreams suddenly fall apart.
The love of his life is now fighting for her life. But it seems that she's not even moving. Before he can panic, they reach the hospital and the medical take her away so fast. He tried his best to keep up until she went inside the operating room.
The nurses stopped him from following her. He can't do anything but to remain outside. Then he called her parents right away even if he doesn't even know how he was able to tell them what occurs to their daughter. They will be on their way to the hospital now.
Cole can't stop himself from thinking about what will happen to him if he loses her. He doesn't want to think about the worse. It's his fault. If he just picked her up, she doesn't even need to cross that street. But it's too late for that now. She's now inside that operating room unconscious of what's happening to her.
Megan's parents arrived and he can't even look at them straight in the eye. He doesn't want to see how devastated they both are in front of him. But her mother is full of years and he can't even seem to talk now that they are here. Her father looks like he's just holding back his tears.
"Why did you allow this to happen to her, Cole?" Asked Megan's mother.
Cole can't seem to respond to her. He doesn't know how to reply to her question. Maybe it's his fault why Megan is in this situation now.
"It was an accident, honey!" Megan's father told his wife.
"But he was there! He could have saved her!" She hysterically said.
She's crying her eyes out now blaming Cole for what happened to their daughter. But how can he even stop it from happening? Sure, he was there but he doesn't even know how that car hit Megan.
"I don't know what exactly happened. That car just came out of nowhere. I saw Megan checking both sides of the road before crossing. I did the same to make sure. But it just happened!" Cole explained more to himself than to Megan's parents.
"It's your fault why our daughter is there! If she didn't come to see you, she won't be inside that room!" Megan's mother shouted.
Cole doesn't know if what's more painful now. Her mother's accusation or her fighting for her life? But he can't seem to talk back anymore. He felt weak and he just sat there and said nothing.
"What are you talking about? It was an accident, honey! Cole couldn't stop that from happening!" Megan's father said.
"He should have tried! Oh, my baby!" Megan's mother insisted while still in tears.
He heard them argue for hours and he just sat there quietly. After some time, Megan's mother seems to get back to her senses. They both sit down quietly not knowing what else to think about the incident.
The doctor finally came out of the operating room. All three of them stand up from their seats to listen to what the doctor will tell them. They're all nervous about the results of the operation. It seems to last for a long time while they are restless outside.
"The patient is stable now after the operation. But she might be unconscious for several days. I think she hit her head somewhere from the impact of the car." The doctor announced.
"But she's going to be alright doctor, right?" Megan's mother asked.
"We have to wait until she gains consciousness. But for now, she's safe from harm so you have nothing to worry about anymore!" The doctor assured them.
Cole feels hope about what the doctor just said. Megan is safe from harm now and he can't wait to see her after this. He's thankful that she survived the accident. Hopefully, she will wake up soon!
The doctor went back inside the operating room and they have left again outside. Cole sees that Megan's mother is still crying. But it seems that they are ignoring his presence now. He doesn't know if it's a good or bad thing. But he could use the peace and quiet.
The nurse advised them when Megan will be transferred to her private room. They have to wait there instead. Cole can feel that something is wrong but try to ignore it. Megan needs to see him when she wakes up.
Nobody said a word until the medical staff already transferred Megan to her hospital bed. She looks peaceful though aside from the bandage that surrounds her head. The doctor said she's already safe. They don't have to worry about her.
A week has passed but Megan is still unconscious from her hospital bed. They are beginning to be impatient, especially her mother. When the doctor visited, all of them got caught up with his update about her.
"It seems that she's in a deep coma. Her brain is not waking up through her vitals are stable. We're not sure when she will wake up." The doctor stated.
"Please do whatever it takes to help her doctor! We're willing to pay for whatever is needed to be done!" Megan's mother exclaimed.
"I'm afraid that we can't do much for her now. She needs to wake herself up." The doctor explained.
"What do you mean by that? Can't you do anything to wake her up?" Megan's father is now asking.
The doctor shakes his head. "We can't do anything to her until she wakes up. It can take months or even years. All we can do for now is to pray that she will wake up sooner than that."
