The Hybrid Prophecy

Chapter Seventeen

(Ruby’s point of view, 22 years ago)

A few months later

It has been a few months since I rejected Henry, at first I would not leave my room. my mother tried to help me through the pain but she does not know what I am going through.

   “Ruby I know you are hurting but the Alpha’s son is having his birthday party, you have been looked in your room for a month now” my mother says while walking into my room. I roll my eyes at my mother and pull the quiet over my head, hoping that she will just leave. In one quick movement I feel the quiet be pulled completely off of me,

   “MUM” I shout while trying to grab the quiet back but she has put in out of my reach.

   “You are coming to this party even if I have to drag you there myself” my mother says while pulling me out of bed, once I am stood up she picks up a bag and hands it to me.

   “Put this on, you have ten minutes to get ready, if you are not ready by then your father will come in a drag you to the pack house dressed as you are” my mother says and turns and walks out of the room before I could even say anything. I stick out my tongue at her as she leaves the room, why can my mother just understand I want to be left alone?

   ‘Just get ready, you know when mum says she will make dad do something that it will happen’ Rana mind links me and I know she is right, there is no arguing with my mother. I hurry to get ready, making sure I have a quick shower and dress, I do not have enough time to dry my hair and put on make-up. I quickly brush my hair and apply whatever make-up I can just before my father walks in,

   “Good you are ready to go” my father says as he holds his hand out for mine. I place my hand in his and allow him to lead me out of my room, I look for my mother when we are downstairs but I could not see her anywhere.

   “Your mother has already left, thought it would be nice if I escort you to the party so you are nit alone” my father says with a smile and I could not help but smile back. It did not take us long to get to the packhouse, I squeezed my fathers arm and he patted my hand to reassure me. I knew that Henry was somewhere in this house I just hope that I do not run into him, as we walk into the grand hall I was in awe of all of the light and decorations that had been put up for the Alpha’s son birthday party, as we pasted guess I could hear some of the she-wolves hoping they would be the future Alpha’s mate. I scuffed at them, if only they knew what could happen if their mate did not want them,

   “baby your finally here, come with me” my mother said pulling me from my father. I looked back at him and saw that he had a sorry look on his face, I quickly looked at mum and saw she was smiling.

   “Mum what have you got planned?” I ask her, at first she does not respond she just keeps leading me through the house. She stops right in front of a door and pushes me in front of her,

   “you will thank me later” my mother says as she pushes me through the door and closes in behind me. I take in my surroundings and see that I am in an office, at first I think that I am alone but then I see three men behind the desk and I soon realise who they are.

   “Alpha, Beta, future Alpha” I say as I bow to them, I was scared as I could not understand why I would be in an office with these people. I could hear someone chuckle but I dare not look up without being told,

   “please Ruby look up, there is no need for you to bow” I hear the Alpha say. Slowly I look up, I see all the men are smiling at me. I cannot help but be confused, why were these men smiling at me?

   “Now Ruby I know what has happened with your mate is painful and it has made up depressed, which is understandable but my Beta here thinks he has a way to make you happy again” the Alpha says.  I look at them confused, I did not know what they thought would help me, I looked at the Beta and saw that his eyes were white, he must be mind linking someone. I hear the door open and in walks a gorgeous dark hair man. I could not take my eyes off of him,

   “Ruby this is my son Ben, Ben this is Ruby. Ruby Ben lost his mate the same way you did” Beta says and I start to get the idea of what is going on,

   “as future Alpha I give you both permission to choose each other as mates if you so wish” he says while giving a wink to Ben stood next to me. Without another word everyone but Ben and I leave the room, I start to fidget with my dress and looking down at the ground. I could not help but think how embarrassing this is.

   “This is pretty embarrassing” Ben says with a chuckle in his voice, I look up and see him smiling at me. I returned his smile, at first we just smile at each other,

   “I do not know what has happened to you and I am sure you are not looking for a mate right now so I am happy to be a friend and get to know you” he says with a sweet smile on his face.

   ‘What do you think Rana?’ I ask her through mind link, she is now the one that will make the connection with another mate.

   ‘I think we should give it a chance to get to know him and see were it leads’ she reply’s to me and I nodded a little to her then took a deep breath in while looking at Ben.

   “I am not sure if we will become mates but I am happy to become friends with you and help each other heal” I say looking him in the eyes, the biggest smile spreads across his face.

   “Thank you so much, it is good to have someone to talk too, that understands” he says and I nod at him, I understand what he is saying. Even though it is nice my family and friends are trying to be there for me but they do not understand what I am feeling but now I have someone that understands.

   “Now lets get to this party before our mothers tell everyone that we are mating right now” he says as he grabs my hand, I could not help but laugh which shocked me. I have not so much as smiled in the last month, maybe this thing with Ben will be good for me.

Two months later

Everyday Ben and I hang out, we talk about all different things and I go on trips with him when he has to go do his Beta duties. I know there are rumours going around that I am Ben’s mate but we do not say anything on that, as Ben says if we deny it that it would just add to it. Ben has become the best friend I have always wanted, whenever I am lonely he turns up. He as also been a true gentlemen and not tried to mate with me or mark me. I can feel my wolf starting to make the connection with his wolf but I am too scared to tell Ben because he or his wolf could deny me and my wolf. I have been getting strong feelings for Ben and it is getting harder to hide them from Ben, I have finally decided to tell him and hope for the best. My hands are shaking when I pick up my phone to call Ben, I tried to calm my breathing as I heard the phone ring.

   “Hello” I hear Ben say and I cannot stop myself from smiling at his sexy voice,

   “erm hello Ben it’s Ruby, are you feel in an hour? There is something that I need to talk to you about” I say nervously. I hope he does not know that I am nervous but when I hear him laugh I know that he does.

   “Of course Rub, I always have time for you, you know that love” he says to me making me smile. I just love him calling me love.

   “I will meet you in half an hour in the gardens out the back of the packhouse” I say smiling, I cannot wait to tell him.

   “I cannot wait, I’ve got something I want to tell you too” he says as he hangs up so I cannot ask him what. I hope it is the same as what I want to say, I finish getting ready and head downstairs, hoping to leave before my mother can stop me and ask me questions. Just as I open the front door I hear my mother call my name, I run out of the house before she can get to me.

   “Let her do” I hear my father say to her making me smile, he always has my back. I make it to the garden with ten minutes to spare, I hope everything will go smoothly. I wait for Ben turn up but I start to hear movements behind me,

   “hello is someone there?” I ask as I turned around but I saw no one. Just as I turn back around I feel something hit my neck, it felt like something had bit me. I checked my neck with my hand but I could not feel anything on my neck, that is when I started to feel sleepy. I decide to sit down and see if that feels better but as I get lower to the ground my eyes started to get heavier, I see someone start to walk towards me but because my eyes started to go fuzzy I could not make out who it was.

   “I have you now, you are going to help me whether you like it or not” was the last thing I heard before everything went black.

Six weeks ago

I stand there with my head held high, my fiancés stood next to me. I have waited for this day for a long time, I have worked so hard and now I am going to be named as the future king of the werewolf kingdom. I look over at the princess stood next to me, I can see that she is trying not to cry but it is not tears of happiness, it is tears of saddens. She did not want to marry me or let me mark her, she wanted to wait for her mate but I convinced her parents to let me marry her and that I would be the best person to protect her and love her. Ha I cannot believe they believed my lies, I cannot not wait to kill them and her and have all the power to myself. The King stands in front of me with the crown ready to put on my head, I was so happy that I was having a hard time stopping myself from bouncing with happiness.

   “On this as King of the wolves announce that Henry will be the next….” the King started to say,

   “STOP” I heard Lisa shout from next to me, I held back a growl. What they hell was she doing?

   “What is wrong princess?” the King asked, but she did not reply to him, she just left the stage looking like she was looking for something. I followed her as well as the King and Queen, I cannot believe she it trying to ruin this day for me. As I got to her a saw her kissing another man, I lost control of my anger and I ripped her out of the man’s arms. When I got her away from him I punched him,

   “guards arrest this man for trying to kiss my mate” I ordered before anyone could say anything, Lisa ran from behind me towards the man she was kissing. If I were not becoming King I would kill her right now,

   “Lisa get you hands off of him, you are mine” I roared at her but she did not listen to me,

   “I am no longer you mate, I have found my true mate and I will be with no one but him” she hissed at me with a smile on her face. I could feel everything that I had worked for start to slip though my fingers. I could not let this happen, I quickly grabbed her and started to extend my fangs ready to bite her, if she bares my mark no one else but I can have her but before I am able to bite her neck I feel someone punch me. I look to see who dared punch me and it is none other than the bastard that is trying to take my crown.

   “She is mine you will not touch her” he growls at me, I try to get up and kill this little s**t but someone is holding me down, I look to see that it is two guards.

   “How dare you touch me? Let go of me now, I am your future King” I shout at them but they do not let go.

   “You were their future King but you are not anymore, my daughter found her mate, he will be King. You are to be banished from the Royal pack for trying to force yourself on my daughter, take him to the dungeons” the King ordered and the two guards that’s to drag me away.

   “You will all regret this” I roar as I am pulled away, if it is the last thing I do they will all pay.
