The Hybrid Prophecy

Chapter Five

(Rose’s point of view)

   “It is hopeless, my mate must not be born yet” I whine to Rickie as he starts setting up our camp, Rickie just gives me a lot. I mean I know we have only been searching for three days but I thought that I would have found my mate by now. We only have to village’s in the vampire kingdom to search so my mate must in one of them.

   “I am going to look for firewood, do you mind finishing setting up the camp?” Rickie asks nervously and I could not help but laugh. There is no reason for him to be nervous to ask me to help although he could be nervous about leaving me alone but then again there is no one around.

   “No I do not mind finishing setting you the tent but could you bring me back a deer, I could really sure a drink and we could eat the meat” I say shyly. Most vampires can survive on animal or human blood, it just depends on what the vampire wants to drink. I have always drunk animal blood I never wanted to hurt a human.

   “I won’t be too long” he says with a smile and runs off to collect the wood, once he had disappeared I got to work finishing setting up the tent. After a while I started to feel like someone is watching me but I could not hear anything and I could not see anything. I tried to put it out of my mind but I could not shake the feeling that someone was watching me.

   “Rickie is that you?” I asked hoping that he would respond, I mean I would be angry as hell that he was trying to scare me but better it be him than someone wanting to hurt me. When Rickie did not respond I started to get scared thinking that it was not just in my head. I heard something snap a twig behind me, I turned and wish I hadn’t. there stood right in front of me was the biggest wolf I had ever seen, even though the wolf looked like he was ready to attack me I could not help myself but marvel at the beauty of it’s golden fur. The wolf jumped at me to attack me, I raised my hands trying to defend myself but I did not feel anything hit me. I quickly put my hands down to see what I stopped this wolfs attack, I saw Rickie in front of me. He had come to save me, he pushed the wolf away from me. He was crouching in front of me, ready to defend me for the wolf,

   “you will not hurt my princess you mongrel” Rickie hissed at the wolf and showed off his fangs letting the wolf know he was ready to fight. I thought the wolf would have backed down but the wolf was just growling at us and biting his teeth making us know he was not going to back down. The wolf readied itself for the attack, just as the wolf went to attack Rickie. I started running towards Rickie I could not let my best friend get hurt because of me,

   “NO” I screamed as the wolf jumped at Rickie. I got in the way before anything could happen to Rickie, the wolf bit down on my neck. It was the worst pain I had ever felt in my whole like, I screamed out against the pain. The wolf quickly let go of me but I no longer had the strength to hold my left up, as I started to fall I felt darkness consume me. I knew this was the end of my life no vampire could ever survive the poison from a wolf bite

   ‘Moon goddess protect Rickie and my mother, don’t let them hurt too much from my death and let them know that I love them.’ I think as I let the darkness consume me.

(Rickie point of view)

Everything was in slow motion, the wolf jumped at me as I got ready to fight back but before I could Rose had got in the way and took the bite that was meant for me. I could not believe it this is a death sentence, why would she do that? Give up her own life for me, I was meant to protect her not the other away around.

   “What have you done?” I shout at the stupid mutt ready to attack but I watched as the wolf fell to the ground, it looked like it was in pain but I could not care. This animal had just given my princess the death sentence. I think about what I should do with the mutt and it comes to me that we never got justice for the King but we can for the princess. I watch as the watch as the unconcise wolf turns back into a human.

   ‘So you are a male-wolf, well lets see what the Queen is going to do to you when she finds out what you have done to her daughter.’ I think as I pick up the mutt and throw him over my shoulder, I then gently picked up Rose and got ready to run back to the castle. Before I left I heard some voice shouting for the prince but I did not pay attention and started to run back to the castle. As I was running I felt like someone was chasing me, I looked behind me and sure enough there were ten wolfs chasing me. I moved as fast as I could trying to outrun the wolves or get help but I was still an hour away with no way of contacting anyone to send help.

   ‘Maybe I should try to hide’ I think unsure if that would help me or not, with no other option and with the wolve catching up to me, I used my vamp speed and climbed up the tree. It is a well-known fact that wolves cannot climb trees, once I had climbed the tree I started to look for a way to keep moving. I could jump from tree to tree but I needed my hands free, even though I did not want to I put Rose on my shoulder and started to jump from tree to tree. The wolves were barking at me and trying to jump and get me but I was out of their reach, I will not let them get my princess and they will not get the mutt that needs to pay for what he did.

I started to grow tired and afraid that I was not going to make it to the castle but I knew I had to keep going. I pushed myself to keep moving and soon I started to see the castle, I looked down and saw that the wolves were still with me.

   ‘If I get close enough I can shout for help’ I think and push myself to go even faster and as soon as I saw one of the castle guards I knew they would be able to hear me.

   “HELP, THE PRINCESS HAS BEEN HURT AND WOLVES ARE CHASING ME” I shout at the top of my lungs, within ten seconds 50 vampire guards were rushing towards us. I jumped down from the trees and ran towards them, at the sight of all these vampires. The wolves stopped following me and started to back of,

   “Cowards” one of the guards shouted as the wolves ran away. They did not look happy about leaving their fellow wolf behind but they knew they would not win.

   “Take this mutt to the dungeon and lock him in with silver chains and tell the Queen to come to the princess’s room now” I order say I hand over the mutt and tool Rose off my shoulder and ran to her room. Once I was inside her room, I lead Rose on her bed and ran and got a bowl full of warm water and a washcloth to clean her wound and see if there is anyway to stop the bleeding.

   “WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER?” The Queen shouted as she barged though the door, the sight of her daughter unconscious brought the Queen to her knees. She started sobbing as she held her daughters hand as I cleaned her wound.

   “What happened to her? You were meant to protect her” the Queen shouted and I could not help but feel like I failed her, no wait not feel I know I failed her.

   “I am sorry my Queen a wolf attacked us and I was trying to defend your daughter but when the wolf jumped up and tried to bite me princess Rose ran in the way, I should have tried harder and not let her jump in the way to save me.” I said as I looked down stopping what I was doing for a moment,

   “Rose always tried to save everyone before herself” the Queen said as with a sad smile on her face and tears rolling down. I finished washing all the blood away from the wound and what I saw made me drop the bowl.

   “What the hell Rickie?” the Queen shouted but I could not answer her, I could not believe what I was seeing this had to be a mistake. There is no way I could be seeing what had appeared on Rose’s neck, when I did not respond to the Queen’s question she walked over to see what I was looking at.

   “that is not possible” the Queen whispered and took a closer look at the mark forming on Rose’s neck. A guard came running into the room which made the Queen and I stop looking and turned around,

   “I am sorry to bother you my Queen but the wolf has awoken and is shouting for his mate” I guard says while bowing, without saying a word the Queen ran out of the room. The guard and I quickly followed the Queen all the way to the dungeon, when I got there I could hear that mutt shouting for his mate but I could not care what he wanted he killed my princess he will never see that mate of his again.

   “I WANT MY MATE AND I WANT HER NOW” the wolf shouted making the Queen hiss at him,

   “WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY DAUGHTER?” The Queen roared but the wolf did not answer her, he just started sniffing like he was trying to smell something out.

   “You smell like mate” the mutt growled at me and I could not help but laugh at him, he is the only wolf that I had been near. The Queen walked over to the wolf and bent down and looked the mutt in the eyes,

   “it is your wolf in control is it not?” The Queen asked the wolf and he nodded to her.

   “Tell me your name and what you did to my daughter and I will help you find your mate and let you go” I could not believe what the Queen said, how could she let this wolf go? The wolf just looked at the Queen for a moment like he was trying to figure out if she was telling the truth or not.

   “My name is Flare and I did not do anything to your daughter, I only hurt my mate the beautiful vampire woman. I did not mean to hurt her I wanted to hurt him.” The wolf said while glaring at me, I glared and hissed back.

   “The woman with Rickie was my daughter and there is no way that a vampire can be your mate” the Queen hissed at him, I can see she is not happy with what he was saying.

   “She is my mate” he roared at her and I could no longer stop myself and I ran at him and started to hit him but I could not more then one hit on him before I was pinned against the wall by someone.

   “Do not lay another hand on my mate or I will kill you with my bare hands” Rose said and I could not believe that I was seeing her standing in front of me. There was no way she should be up, vampire cannot withstand the poison from a wolf, I looked into Rose’s eyes and saw that they were no longer her normal blue eyes they were violet. Suddenly she let go of me and started walking towards the mutt chained to the wall, guards tried to stop her,

   “MINE” the wolf growled shocking all of us in the room but nothing could shock us more then what we heard next

   “MINE” Rose said and it shouted like she growled just like the wolf did, what the f**k has just happened?
