"Where is that devil's seed, West Zervos?" Coach Michaels had raised the hell right in the middle of the corridor while the students had started to surround him to watch the show unfold. The teachers from the nearby classes had come out to see what all the noise was about. "Where is he? West Zervos!" Another loud shout from coach Michaels, yet it managed to make some students wince even when he had been shouting for some time now. I hoped that West had enough sense to make a run for his life when he heard coach Michaels' voice echo around the entire school. But I guess I was wrong. As if he had a death wish, I watched West push himself through the crowd from behind coach Michaels towards his impending doom. And looking at his poker face, it was clear, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. The shocked stares of people before coach Michaels made him look behind and found the one who he was looking for, West Zervos. The silence of the graveyard had descended upon the school before coach Michaels decided to break it with another yell of his, "who do you think you are, you rascal? How dare you even think of insulting the pride of our school?" None of the teachers dared to interfere with coach Michaels' business as he was reputed to be vengeful and difficult. Coach Michaels grabbed West's collar and tried to intimidate him by pulling him closer making us gasp out in shock but what shocked us more was when West didn't even budge under coach Michaels' strength. Given the facts that coach Michaels was more beefy, even though West looked like he had a lean physique, all that flesh on coach should have made West move at least an inch but it didn't. Even coach Michaels noticed it making him grit his teeth, especially after seeing that there wasn't any change in West's expression. And to be cheeky enough, his expression was like he watching a documentary about the life story of a sloth, where coach Michaels was the sloth. And West being about an inch or two more taller than coach's towering height might have made coach less terrifying to him. On failing to pull West near, coach Michaels resorted to lean instead as he hissed, "did you think you could happily roam around after challenging Louis Herring? Without any consequences?" So this was all about the exchange West had with Louis. It only made me feel more guilty. West's expression remained as passive as it was from the beginning, along with not a single word or plead. He looked around like he didn't care and was really bored at the moment making coach Michaels to shout louder, "hey! I'm talking to you!" West's eyes snapped back to coach Michaels making him flinch slightly with wide eyes. The intensity with which West was staring at coach Michaels must have definitely left a chill go down his spine. West's eyes burned like boric acid, amplifying his green irises. I had a feeling that coach Michaels was going to release steam from the ears in the real life. Either from him or from ours... Oh goodie! At least we would get to see the smoke coming from ears in real life! Composing himself, coach Michaels threatened, "you are not going listen to me this way. You need to be taught a good lesson. I am Rupert Michaels, you hear me? Rupert Michaels! You don't mess with me. Now Come!" With the collar that he had grabbed, he tried to pull West towards the gym. Keyword being 'tried' because West didn't move even an inch. "I said come!" Coach Michaels roared finally making West follow him. It was surprising that principal hadn't come even after all this shouting and disturbance. Automatically, all of us who had witnessed the incident take place, followed the duo to the auditorium down the gym area. Mrs. Burns stopped the rehearsals and looked at coach Michaels dragging West in followed by half of the school. Dragging him up the stairs to the centre of the stage, coach Michaels stopped and looked at the crowd assembled below. Since there was a huge number of students, coach Michaels continued, "This gentleman here thinks that he is a gift for the mankind. Thinks that he's above everyone in the world. Exceptionally talented in all the areas." He looked at West who was still very much expressionless as always before he continued, "like singing wasn't a very big deal to him. He feels like he's better than our very own Louis." West exhaled loudly like he was losing his patience making coach Michaels even more infuriated than he initially was. "That's it you imbecile rascal! You aren't getting out of the auditorium till you sing before us all! Loud and clear. Let's see from which angle you are better than Louis!" Coach Michaels yelled out furiously. When West didn't even care to acknowledge his yelling, coach grabbed West's hair as he turned his face towards him and shouted at his face, "sing I say!" I don't know how he managed to be so unreactive to all this. He didn't even flinch! It only made me conclude that he was deaf. "Sing!" One more shout from coach Michaels and he was definitely going to lose his voice. Again West just stared at him pissing coach Michaels even more. Finally, as if something dawned on him, coach Michaels snorted with a disgusted expression which shifted into a superior one in a fraction of a second, "you won't sing because you simply can't. You are nothing but a joke, you must be really regretting trying to shame Louis when you yourself sound like a roaster that thinks itself to be a nightingale." Coach turned around to leave as he grumbled something like, "Worthless jerk." Under his breath. Coach had just achieved what he was aiming for: disgracing West before the half of the school in a much more crude than what West had done to Louis. I felt my heart break for West making me feel more guilty. Coach Michaels hadn't even taken a step away from West when I heard it which gave me goosebumps all over my body, 'When the Day's swallowed by night.' Infact everyone heard it as gasps erupted throughout the auditorium in another shock. Coach Michaels had frozen in his place when West's deep mesmerizing voice came out loud and clear as he had sung the first line. He had just sung the first line yet it had already grabbed everyone's attention. I felt pleasurable chills go down my spine. Goosebumps rose all over my skin. 'And moon hides in the plain sight... Only the ray of hope shall shine' He continued to sing in that angelic voice of his, a song that I had never heard before yet it was easy to tell that every single note was sung perfectly, even the high notes that even best of the Opera singers faced problem with pulling out perfectly. The sparkle in his green jungles indicated that he was amused by the reaction he was getting. His voice was completely hypnotic! Even Louis' songs looked like mare joke before his out of the world voice! 'With a twitch in flow of time... Heed the calling in this song of mine' I felt myself losing in his voice. He didn't even need music to add the power to his voice. It already was very powerful and beautiful. A perfect lullaby. I had to shake my head to keep my eyes and mind open. I swear I could see people doze off for a second and even sway a bit. My knees felt weak. 'While I await for your sight to reappear' He finished his song letting the world around him come back to life. It only left a desire to listen more of his song, his singing, his alluring voice. How could someone be this attractive? From his voice to his body to his face? It felt surreal. It was like he was an angel that fell from the sky. The crowd went wild with applauds, squeals and whistles. Coach Michaels who had turned towards West was slowly blinking his eyes trying to digest what he had just witnessed. Looks like, he definitely lost his voice after hearing West's. But that was not what had slowly killed the hysteria. It was the part where West's eyes had snapped up to meet mine and didn't leave after that. At first I thought that I was imagining it but when I felt confused pairs of eyes oscillating between me and West confirmed that it wasn't my wishful thinking. "Why is he staring at you?" Duncan's confused voice asked me. "I don't know," was what come out of my dazed self. Now the murmuring had started in the background making me self conscious but I couldn't look away from his unique green eyes. It was as if my eye were tethered to his. "Carlene!" Duncan's rough shake brought me out of whatever condition I was in. "Huh?" I blinked rapidly as I turned to face Duncan who had a frown etched on his face. "What was that all about?" He asked in a rather annoyed voice. My eyes immediately seeked the ground as I tried to understand what had happened. Why was I staring into West's eyes? Or more appropriately, why was he staring into mine? For how long had we been in that way? I discreetly looked around to find pairs of eyes glancing in my direction, differently. I could even feel the jealous toes giving me stink eyes. Again the toes starting with an 'h' and not 't'. They just needed a reason to victimize someone and they seemed to have found one. Oh great! Now I would be their new toy for a few weeks. Especially, after the lunch today.
