CHAPTER 14: SERGEANT MILLS, ASTRONAUT“Hey, babe. Are you home yet?” I called, bursting into his apartment. “William?”
William emerged from the shower, a towel wrapped around his waist. He had shaving cream on his face and his hair was wet and sticking up in spikes.
“Hey. What’s wrong? You okay?”
I waved the envelope in his face. “More than okay. I got my letter.”
“What? You did?”
“Yeah.”
“So? What did it say?”
I frowned. “I don’t know. I’m afraid to open it.” I looked at the letter in its official NASA envelope. “You read it.”
He held up his hand. “Let me finish shaving and I will.”
“William!”
“Aw come on, princess. Whatever the letter says, it will say the same thing in five minutes when I get through.” He disappeared into the bathroom amid my protests.
