CHAPTER 11: CONTRADICTIONSSARAH’S EYES FLEW OPEN BUT she didn’t move a muscle. She wasn’t lying in a hospital bed and her mother wasn’t hovering over her. It must have been a dream. As her eyes darted left and right, she recognized where she was, and though it didn’t exactly make her sigh in relief, it was better than the disorientation she’d felt upon waking. And it made sense—why she’d dreamt what she did. She vaguely remembered Michael asking her about why she’d become a doctor.
