The rest of the journey was uneventful.
Even the walk of shame for Jesse coming back downstairs to get something to eat was fairly easy going as she avoided Darius’s dark gaze all the while Adler strutted around like the cat that got the cream.
The RV stopped at a truck stop at dinner time, four hours into their journey and the boys all went out to the diner to feast on burgers while Jesse stayed hidden inside.
Adler returned with a burger and fries for her and a new phone bought from the gas station next door. Plus a couple of bags of supplies for the journey as this was the only stop happening until morning.
“Here you go…message your friends and tell them you’re okay.”
Jesse jumped up and hugged her arms around his neck, kissing his lips. “Thank you!”
