Chapter 10 When the last speech ended, Bond immediately stood with the audience and applauded. He had to wait for Northman to chat with others before leaving since they were traveling together in the Town Car. Mike opened the doors for them, and as soon as he and the administrator were inside, Northman wiped his face with a hankie and said, “Thank God that’s over and that it’s only once a year. So tedious at times.” Bond couldn’t repress a chuckle before saying, “Oh, it wasn’t that bad.” Of course, they both knew it had been in spots. Bond was tired, but felt a thrill of excitement when Mike drove down the hill a way, pulled over in a lookout and stopped. With the overhead light off, the door opened and a dark kilted figure slipped out of the shadows and slid in close, next to Bond.
