*Sean's POV*
"I can't believe this!" I yell as I kick some loose trash found in the street. "I finally found my mate and she ran home before I could even get her name!"
"Calm down man. We'll find her I promise." Tommy says with his hands up in a defensive stance.
"How? How are we going to find her?"
"My dad always said you can sense your mate even before you meet them. Have you had a similar feeling before you met her?" I look up at the question and realize I have. And I think I know just who to ask to find out who she is.
"Josh. Josh sometimes had a faint smell of her on him." I immediately turn towards the club and away from the nearly done fire burning the remnants of the lowlife with demon blood. His demon part was apparently more potent than I originally thought since he still held a couple demonic abilities. He seemed to be pretty stunned when he realized he couldn't stop me with his mind. It took everything I had to fight him in my human form and not change into my wolf. I couldn't risk my newfound human mate seeing such a horror when we just met, and I also couldn't risk being seen by any other humans passing by.
Once back in the club I immediately go to the back sitting area the group had been at earlier, but I can't seem to find Josh anywhere. Tommy appears by my side and points out the girl Josh was hitting on earlier. I approach her as fast as I could and interrupt a conversation she's having with another guy. "Have you seen Josh? The guy you were talking to earlier with curly brown hair?"
She looks at me surprised by my abruptness, but can tell it's an emergency. "The bouncers kicked him out because he'd been drinking alcohol that he snuck in."
My heart crumbles and I look to Tommy for support and a possible plan for what to do next. He thanks the girl for the information and turns me towards the parking lot. "Alright. So we won't be able to even find out her name tonight, but we will have class with Josh on Monday and we can ask him then. Everything is going to be fine. You just need to be patient." he says everything slowly to make sure my comatose brain is able to process everything. I slowly nod as I realize he's right and I just need to make it through the weekend. "Alright Sean. Now give me the keys so I can drive us home." I reach into my pocket and drop my keys into his hand without a care in the world about if he damages it or not. I'm still too occupied with worrying about when I will be able to see my mate again. Is she okay after everything that happened tonight? Can she feel that we're destined to be together? She is human so she might not understand the connection we have, but I could see in her eyes that she felt what I did when we touched.
Man she was gorgeous too. She was unusually small, a couple inches over five foot. And she had an adorable patch of freckles on her nose, but I have a feeling that they only show because of the sun exposure she had during the summer and they'll disappear with her tan. Already I have these weird gut instincts about her, like I know that she's strong willed but not in the traditional werewolf way. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to would be like how when people attack churches in movies, the priests will resist to fight and harm the attackers even when they're about to be killed. She's strong willed when it comes to her heart and soul. I smile like a lunatic as I process all of this. I have a mate! And she's absolutely perfect.
*Annabelle's POV*
I stayed awake for hours picturing my unnamed hero. I regret leaving the club before making sure he was okay, but I was really freaked out and the other guy told me to leave. I'm sure with the two of them they were able to detain that horrible man until the police arrived. Oh God! The police! I didn't even stay to give a statement on what happened. Isn't that illegal? I'm such a horrible person. In the morning I'll watch the news to see if anything pops up. Maybe they won't even need my statement to put that man in jail.
Once morning came, I quickly made myself a cup of coffee and turned on the news on the tv then started scrolling the internet as well. Nothing. No mention of it on tv or any social media accounts. Maybe I haven't given them enough time to put the information out there. I think I'll give it a couple more days before I go into the sheriff's department to give a statement.
I'm cleaning out my mug when I hear Haylee's door open. I see her stop in her tracks as she assesses if I'm okay after what happened last night. She never asked for any details and I never offered any.
"I'm going to the Rec to work out. Do you want to come with?" I look at her and see that she's already dressed and ready for her workout and I'm about to decline when I realize that I kinda need this. I need to get out of my room and distract myself from the events of last night.
"I'd love to. Just give me a couple minutes to get changed." I say then go to my bedroom to put on the proper clothing attire and my new tennis shoes. It doesn't take long to pick my outfit because my athletic clothes are limited, severely limited.
It takes only a couple minutes to walk there and I soon realize that Haylee is a hardcore athlete who has probably never broken a sweat in her life. I've never seen anyone work out the way she does and not even seem fazed by it. I'm panting and drenched in sweat after an hour and a half when I finally tell her that I can't do any more. I see her smirk a little bit then she checks her watch and she guides me to a room in the basement that's being set up for a yoga class.
"After every workout you should always stretch and yoga is a great way of doing that. A class starts in about 10 minutes, so we can just do some regular stretches and drink some water until then."
I nod my head and immediately go to the watering fountain to take the longest drink of my life. Then I start on the basic stretches feeling relief flow through me as I realize we're almost done. I had never been to a yoga class before, but this was much easier than I thought it would be. Though I suspect the workout made me more limber than I usually am.
As we walk back to our dorm, I ask her if she was in any sports during high school and how she got so fit. She looks off to the distance as she answers "I was in cross country for one year and it was the best thing I ever did... but eventually family issues came up and I had to quit." It sounded like she wasn't willing to give me anymore information so I just nodded and left it at that.
I hit the shower first and as I'm in there all I can think about is the handsome man who saved me earlier. I swear I felt fireworks ignite my entire body when he touched my arms last night. By the look on his face, I think he experienced the same feelings that I had. All I can do at this point is hope that I see him again and soon.
Until that time comes, I'll have to settle with distracting myself with the homework assignments that're starting to pile up.
