Adrienne hasn't been back in her hometown since she packed her bags and left the house she used to rent with her ex-boyfriend that was once her world. But her best friend begged her to come back because she refused to get married if Adrienne wasn’t the maid-of-honor. Adrienne doesn’t have much of a choice but to come back.
Troy Richards used to be her world. The star-athlete of their high school whose dreams crashed down when he tore his ACL and his scholarship went down the drain. Adrienne was willing to stay in their hometown for him, until he got better. But he was pulling her down with him and the relationship was suffocating her and killing her own dreams. She needed to get out so she did. Without a goodbye and an explanation.
It’s been eight years since then and now she’s back. She’s not sure how she’s supposed to treat everyone else. Georgina’s the only one who gives her a warm welcome, even her mother doesn’t. Eight years later, Adrienne’s a stranger to her own home and she’s not sure if she can ever be welcomed back here again.
And then there’s Troy. She sounds like an idiot if she keeps on denying that there’s still sparks between the two of them. But she’s built a life for herself in Detroit with a fiancé that’s waiting for her to come back to. But she can’t shove down her feelings for Troy. Her heart still screams his name.
Maybe it was a mistake coming back.
