In Wuxia fiction, warriors mostly grow to fight masters and achieve superhuman abilities through martial arts training and internal energy cultivation. They pursue their ideal no matter how many challenges they meet. In Xianxia fiction, cultivators usually seek eternal life and complete their philosophy. Immortality usually is one of their goals. Xianxia features many Chinese mythology concepts, such as gods and demons, Wu Xing (five elements), dragon folklores … etc. Let’s take Kung Fu Panda as an example. The MC, Po, was a clumsy panda working in a noodle store who dreamed of being a Kung Fu master one day. He was accidentally chosen to be the candidate of Dragon Warrior. It was out of everyone's surprise, even his own. But being through a training path full of joy and tears, he successfully protected his valley in the end. The skills he learned are rooted in Chinese Kung Fu. And other characters also owned abilities created from Chinese culture. The MC is an outsider being despised by the whole clan. He accidentally encountered the will of ancient Fiend God and achieved its art manual. He finally found his own cultivation path. With unique advantages, he beat his enemy one by one and grew to the strongest in the end. Many authors may be concerned that the history and world setting under Eastern culture could be too complicated. While this book, although under the Eastern Fantasy genre, the ability pattern it introduces is straightforward with little Chinese culture presented. Based on the concept of the meridian, the author establishes a simple level-up system. The more meridian cultivators develop, the stronger they grow. Combined with water, fire, and other common magic elements, the fights scenes are delivered vividly and excitingly. This novel is a good start for authors to learn Eastern fantasy. Many Eastern Fantasy novels may be too complicated in culture introduction, which could primarily affect reading experience, which this book avoids such concerns. Of course, there is still some space to improve for this book. For example, the character names could be simpler. It's hard for readers to remember the terms in different lexical backgrounds from theirs. If you are interested in Eastern Western, give it a try! You don’t need to force yourself to fuse an unfamiliar cultural background into your novel. Instead, you are encouraged to introduce the myths and culture of your own country and develop your unique fantasy world!
