Selene's eyelids fluttered open. Her gaze was unfocused as the sterile white ceiling of the hospital room swam into view. Her body felt heavy with every muscle weighed down by exhaustion, and a dull ache spread across her abdomen. She blinked a few times, trying to make sense of her surroundings.
Then, she sees a doctor standing at her bedside, meticulously checking her vitals. A nurse was beside him, recording notes on a clipboard and adjusting the IV drip connected to her arm. She was still in a daze, almost forgetting what exactly had happened to her.
