Selene tied off the last bandage with precision that belied the chaos inside her. Her hands were steady, but her mind was a storm. She glanced at Alaric's face one last time which was still pale but peaceful now in unconsciousness. A part of her wanted to stay and to keep watch over him, but the memories threatened to overwhelm her that pushed her to leave. Without a word, she rose abruptly and walked out of the room.
