Chapter 19

Billy

I had sat and listened with pride to the answer Celeste had given to Joe’s question about what she thought of my plan to take the fight to the people responsible for the death of her mother. I was proud of the answer she had given. She had acknowledged me as her father. It was a small thing in the grand scheme of things. But to me, it had meant everything.

Seeing her and Lilly fight had been enlightening, to say the least. She really was a little pistol. She held her own. Just like her mother, Celeste was a force to be reckoned with. I will admit that I had been worried about learning that Celeste had a g*n, but it soon became apparent to me that she wasn't going to give up the g*n easily.

Celeste didn’t know it yet, but whether she liked it or not, I was in her corner. And she might not be expecting me to stick around, but she would soon see that I wasn’t going anywhere. I was here for her always, and I would protect her until my last breath.

I had already acknowledged that Lilly was resentful of Celeste. I also knew that I was going to have to have a word with Lilly about what was going on. She needed to know that she had nothing to be jealous about. Celeste needed them, she had nobody else.

Jamie

I was glad that we now had all the protection that we would need to keep Celeste safe. She was my number one priority. Now that her mother was dead, she needed someone in her corner. It was amazing when I thought about it. Celeste and I hadn’t known each other for all that long in the grand scheme of things. But in the short time that we had known each other, she had become the most important person in my life. I honestly couldn't imagine my life without her in it. I would do anything to protect her.

I glanced over at Billy, and when I saw the look on Billy’s face, I almost felt sorry for the men that we were going to be going after, the ones who were hunting Celeste.

Almost. But not quite. Those guys had no idea what was coming for them. I knew Billy well enough to know that nobody messed with his kids and lived. Once Billy found out who these guys were and where to find them, those guys were dead.

Billy’s phone started ringing and Billy excused himself from the table and made his way into the lounge room. Everyone was silent as they all sat and watched him. He was having an extremely tense conversation with whoever was on the other end of that phone.

When Billy got off the phone he came back into the kitchen. “Alright boys, we now know where they are at, who’s ready to go hunting?” he asked us with a grin.

A unanimous uproar went up around the table. There was an excited buzz in the air. We now knew where our targets were. Now we could properly plan our revenge mission. We could end this battle once and for all and save Celeste’s life in the process. These people had brought the fight to us. Now they would return the favor. The only thing the people that we were going after didn’t know was that a war was coming to them. The boys and I were going to make sure of it!
