Normally, it is my feet aching when pounding the beat. But not today. Today, I have a constant earache. ‘Fed Rep’ has talked incessantly about her sergeant’s exams, and there is little doubt in my mind that she will pass the exam with flying colours; her knowledge is vast. However, I question if she would be able to pull off a board interview. She may have the written knowledge of the exam, but, in my humble opinion, she lacks the personal skill set required for the promotion. A sergeant can lead a team, encourage the officers in their unit, be flexible, be able to pivot when the job requires, and keep their heads.
