“Interview with Kenneth Wong, started at 15:01 Monday 28th of July, 2005. Present are Acting Detective Sergeant Jessie Symmons, and Sergeant Craig Smith,” I say for the tape, before opening the brown file in my hand and placing a picture of the first victim on the table between us.
“You are refusing your right to a solicitor. However, I must inform you, if you change your mind at any point during this interview, then we can appoint one for you,” I state. I mean, it is great for us when suspects refrain from accepting legal advice, but I have to say, it is idiotic.
