Bella was already dressed for school. She hoped she’d see C.D. today…maybe even start a lesson or two with him.
She felt unusually excited , like today was gonna be a wonderful day for her. And if she was being honest with herself, she was expecting something else too… a car with her own driver as Lucian had promised.
“Good morning, ma,” the maid greeted as Bella stepped into the living room.
Bella stopped short, blinking in confusion.
“Ma? Me?” She laughed softly. “Oh no, please, just call me Bella.”
The girl smiled. “Okay, Bella.”
Lucian appeared on the stairs moments later, dressed sharply for work. His presence changed the air instantly. He walked past Bella without a glance or a word, his footsteps were quick as he headed out.
