I had been so happy when Adam had texted to let me know that Becky was safe. It was just in time, too. Alpha Simmons had already forced my hand to help him get into the Moon River pack. He would have killed the guard, and I wasn't willing to let that happen. I was relieved to see that Ruby had picked up on the vibes that I was trying to throw out there. I had hoped that she would sense that something was wrong. Luckily, she had, as Chris hadn't been caught off guard at all. The look on Chris's face hurt. He clearly believed that I would betray him like that. Though I guess I could understand that. I was standing there with Alpha Simmons and his men after all.
I took a deep breath and concentrated on Chris. I wanted to let him know that I was on his side, that I hadn't turned on him
